I faced many adversities, in my life; however, one adversity in particular that affected me Occurred moving from sophomore year to junior year. I went to a STEM school called Gwinnett School of Math, Science, and Technology, and for the first time in my life, I was academically challenged. This affected me vastly in sophomore year as I failed two classes and my GPA dropped to a 2.1. This was not because I was unintelligent, instead I felt unintelligent and incapable of passing in such a school. So I would not attempt my assignments or do my tasks. To make matters worse, my parents were not very encouraging. My father was emotionally unstable and would lash out at me, because he believed I was doing this on purpose to drop out of school, instead of trying to help me deal with my horrendous mental state. So whenever I was failing he would belittle me no matter how much I cried. Yet I was never taken out of the school no matter how low my GPA dropped. With this in mind, I realized that no one was going to support me through life and no one was going to hold my hand. So when sophomore year finished I promised myself to do better now for my parents. not for my teachers but for myself. So, I became my motivator, teacher, and tutor. I took it upon myself to review my mistakes and see what I must do next, and what people I have to talk to. What I was doing was working as I had pushed my GPA to a 2.5 in junior which boosted my morale, then I was able to push it to a 2.9 GPA as I graduated in the STEM school I felt so alienated from. I know it may not be the biggest adversary anyone has ever faced, but I may never be able to graduate at all had I not pushed myself through my adversary it taught me how to take care of myself and how to push myself when no one else will. It taught me to become more independent, and most of all it taught me how to be the best version of myself. For anyone in a similar circumstance, the best advice I can give is to keep pushing and keep going. Life always gets better. It is easy to have a "it's possible but difficult" mindset, but the best leaders have a "it's difficult but not impossible mindset," this mindset keeps us pushing, and when we keep pushing, we surpass our adversaries.
    Barbie Dream House Scholarship
My dream house would be a large mansion. A mansion as big as the white house. It would be located near a coast on the Cliffside in Italy, specific a city like Cinque Terre. The outside of the dream house would have pillars in the front laced with gold patterns that make it look like dragon's and snakes are climbing them. The dream house would be gold and white showing off power and pride, and facing the sunrise to show how I am ready for tomorrow and when the sunsets it will be very scenic and beautiful. Having a thing for design and art, the mansion would be decorated like a museum. With artistic decorations placed in the dining halls, the kitchen, the living room, and the gaming room. These artistic pieces include glass statues of the human body, portraits of famous and inspire figures(who inspire me specifaclly) and artistic pieces that express my mind and my imagination, e.g. the night sky, angels, and other multi-colored pieces. Multiple things of entertainment will be placed across the dream house, such as a pool that can be opened up on the roof giving both fun activity and great scenery. I mentioned a game room, to elaborate, the room is like an arcade yet it has multiple ps5s and vr headsets. The room will be illuminated with hue color lamps to match the environments of the games. There will also be a theater as big as an actual theater in the basement. These theater will be able to have any movie be seen for free, even movies that just released in theaters. Finally, there will also be a secret room. Just for me, the room will be away from all the glam and attractions. The room is my room my space, where I enter to be with my own thoughts, write my own stories, and reflect on the life I am living... the dream that came true.

I am pursuing a degree in film production, however, that does not mean I am without plans to make Georgia a better place. For I am persistent and wish to inspire. A persistent character, deeply rooted in the cultural and historical fabric of Georgia, can serve as a profound source of inspiration and motivation for its people. Georgia, a nation with a rich heritage and a turbulent past, has witnessed the emergence of numerous persistent characters who have left an indelible mark on its society. These characters, whether historical figures or contemporary role models embody resilience, determination, and the spirit of overcoming challenges. Their stories and actions can inspire Georgians to embrace their own tenacity and work collectively towards a brighter future. Being a person of color growing up in a suburban neighborhood, I have navigated the challenges of political transitions, economic hardships, and education barriers. Yet my most difficult challenge has always been my father and his narcissism that still persists today. Despite the difficulties, I have still found a way to get to college in downtown Atlanta. I believe these stories of persistence can inspire many to continue going through life, showing them that these struggles are not the end. The concept of "shemomechama" or "never give up" is deeply embedded in Georgian culture. This attitude is exemplified in the story of the Georgian rugby team, often referred to as the "Lelos." The team's struggles and triumphs on the international stage have united the nation behind the spirit of persistence and resilience. The Lelos' determination to compete with larger and more established rugby nations reflects the Georgian people's commitment to facing challenges head-on and never backing down. I also have a habit of searching for conflicts in my area and writing stories about them. One of my favorite ones takes inspiration from the US prison system. I have not published it but have given it a name: Lodabar. I believe using stories is the best way to spread awareness and I believe that producing films based on my experience in Goeriga can help bring us as a state together. In a world where uncertainties are abundant, and aspirations can seem distant, the stories of these persistent characters resonate deeply with Georgians. They serve as beacons of hope, demonstrating that determination, resilience, and a refusal to give up can lead to profound personal and collective achievements. By internalizing the lessons of these characters, the people of Georgia can find the strength to face challenges, pursue their dreams, and contribute to the betterment of their society.

Additionally, volunteering introduced me to mentors who offered guidance, constructive criticism, and advice on improving my craft. These relationships have been instrumental in my growth as a filmmaker, providing me with a support system that is essential in a competitive industry. Filmmaking is a collaborative effort that involves numerous departments working in synergy to bring a vision to life. Volunteering as a camera operator exposed me to the intricate dynamics of film production. I learned how each department contributes to the final product and gained a holistic view of the filmmaking process. This understanding has proven invaluable as it enabled me to communicate effectively with colleagues from different departments, fostering a more collaborative and efficient work environment. Volunteering often means stepping outside of your comfort zone and embracing challenges. Throughout my journey as a camera operator, I encountered situations where I made mistakes. These errors, though initially discouraging, became essential learning experiences. They taught me the importance of adaptability, problem-solving, and resilience in the face of adversity. This willingness to learn from mistakes has been a cornerstone of my growth as a filmmaker, helping me evolve and refine my skills over time. In conclusion, my volunteering experience as a camera operator has played a pivotal role in propelling me towards my goal of becoming a filmmaker. Through skill development, networking, understanding production dynamics, and learning from mistakes, I have transformed from a novice enthusiast to a confident and capable filmmaker. The journey from behind the camera lens to the director's chair has been filled with challenges, triumphs, and continuous growth. Every frame I capture today is a testament to the invaluable lessons and experiences I garnered during my days as a volunteer camera operator.
    Hackworth-Rhodes STEM Scholarship
The STEM field is one of if not the most impactful fields of the digital age. I plan to get into this field as a software engineer. Before I mention my plans as a software engineer, I will mention how I was raised. I went to a STEM high school named GSMST or Gwinnett School for Mathematics, Science, and Technology. I went to this school to learn about engineering and sciences. The thing that intrigued me the most was coding. In fact, I took an AP Computer Science Principles class last year, and am currently taking an AP Advanced Computer Science class. The class actively pushed me, yet despite this, I adapted even though my teachers saw my growth. I have the heart to drive innovation and productivity: Software engineers are constantly pushing the boundaries of what is possible with technology, developing new software tools and platforms that can improve productivity, efficiency, and performance in a wide range of industries. For example, I was able to write a code that analyzed the average basketball score. Improving efficiency and accuracy: Software engineers are also responsible for developing software systems and applications that can automate tasks, perform calculations, and analyze data more quickly and accurately than humans can. This can have a significant impact on a wide range of industries, from healthcare and finance to manufacturing and transportation. I reflect this ability with how when I see something is off, on a site despite it working, I do not assume it will work out in the end instead I work the extra time to fix it. Enabling collaboration and communication: Software engineers are also responsible for developing software systems and applications that enable collaboration and communication between individuals and organizations. This can include everything from email and instant messaging systems to project management and collaboration platforms. Having studied how the Instagram algorithm works, I understood that through software programming, a for-you page updates you on your current status instead of when you first joined. Addressing societal challenges: Software engineers are also playing an increasingly important role in addressing some of the most pressing societal challenges of our time, from climate change and sustainability to healthcare and education. For example, software engineers are developing software systems and applications that can monitor and analyze environmental data in real time, enabling more effective management of natural resources and energy systems. Overall, as a software engineer, there are many ways I can be impactful in advancing technology, improving productivity and efficiency, enhancing user experience, and addressing some of the most pressing challenges facing society today.

Mathematics is a subject that many people find challenging and intimidating, but for me, it is a source of great fascination and enjoyment. Math is often described as the language of the universe, as it is the basis for all scientific and technological advancements, from engineering and physics to computer science and cryptography. One reason why I love math is the sheer elegance and beauty of the subject. The precision and logical structure of mathematical concepts and theories are breathtaking, and the ability to derive complex results from simple axioms is a testament to the power of mathematical reasoning. Mathematics also provides a unique sense of satisfaction that comes from solving a difficult problem or proving a challenging theorem. The process of working through a problem and arriving at a solution can be incredibly rewarding and boost my accomplishment and sense of being. I feel fulfilled for I am rewarded with the answer to a complex equation. Moreover, mathematics offers a sense of universality and objectivity that is hard to find in other subjects. Even other subjects such as economics and physics rely on mathematics. The laws of mathematics are independent of human experience or cultural context and can be applied universally across the world. This gives mathematics a unique status as a subject that transcends cultural and national boundaries and brings people together. Finally, mathematics is a subject that is constantly evolving and changing, with discoveries and breakthroughs being made all the time. This means that there is always something new to learn and discover in mathematics, and this sense of intellectual curiosity and exploration is one of the key reasons why some people love math. In conclusion, there are many reasons why I love math, from the beauty and elegance of mathematical concepts to the sense of satisfaction that comes from solving a challenging problem. Mathematics offers a unique sense of universality and objectivity, and the constant evolution and discovery within the subject mean that there is always something new to explore and learn.
    Novitas Diverse Voices Scholarship
Being raised in a diverse community like Gwinnett, I grew to appreciate diversity. For one I used to think of my own culture as the common culture that everyone had, and that my way was the right way. However, going to school and making friends with Vietnamese, Koreans, other Ghanaians like myself, and Indians, I found out how unique every experience is. Everyone has their own beliefs, stories, values, forms of respect, and conflicts. Diverse voices show off new ideas and new perspectives. If we compare the diversity of America to the lack of it in Japan. Japan does not hold a lot of new ideas and everyone has the same mindset. Because of this, it is hard to change severe flaws in Japanese culture such as chikan, which is molestation on public transportation, or the severe work culture, which is resulting in a lack of babies being born in the society. Meanwhile in America, because this is a rather diverse nation different types of voices are heard. For instance, after Will Smith slapped Chris Rock publically on television, the majority populace talked about how it was a completely unprofessional thing to do. Jim Carrey went on to speak out about how Hollywood cannot act immaturely on television, yet a black woman mentioned on the internet how Chris' joke was more of an insult that used to be used on homosexuals and how she believed Will was sort of justified for his actions. Despite public opinion, a young black woman was able to give her own opinion publically. This does not mean will listen; however, her perspective is shared and gives a new idea on the situation. Because I grew up in a diverse society, over time I became more considerate and less selfish. One flaw with the lack of diversity is that when no one is uniquely different it is hard to expect someone to have some type of boundaries or have different wishes. This is why people who grow up in places that lack diversity may end up appearing inconsiderate. For example, I have a grandmother on my father's side who was a village girl. She now lives with us in our home. Being a village girl she did not know professional things such as putting her plate in the sink after she is done eating, wearing different clothes to go to a family event and worst off how the tone of voice matters and saying a lot about character. What we do in the household was all new to her because she was never introduced to how different culture does different things.
