Bio

My educational goal is to complete a pre-law degree in political science and criminal justice to then move on to a Juris Doctorate so that I have a solid understanding and ability to practice law and help our local communities. I have had a deep passion for justice since I was a child, surrounded by injustice and crime. In a world that seems to be getting darker every year, I still march forth in the hopes of being able to put a little bit of our world back together. I eventually plan to move out east in Virginia to start a new life and become involved with local local community there.

All my life I've lived in poverty, but I aim to change that. On the first house I was able to rent when I moved out, I made it my mission to help as many as I could so that they didn't have to live the way I did growing up. I invited as many friends of friends and others in need to come stay with me if they needed and helped countless people get better jobs and taught them useful skills such as cooking or fixing things. Through that effort at the age of 19, I realized I could do even more for others if I were more capable myself, and started volunteering. Countless hours have been spent with churches preparing food for the needy, and I still attempt to help anyone and everyone around me as we all struggle to get through a hardening world. Over time I've devoted myself to studying everything I could so that I had a better understanding of basic skills necessary to daily functioning, and eagerly await opportunities to share that knowledge with others so that they may make use of it and improve themselves as well. I strive to be a light of self improvement and Optimism towards any situation because I believe there's always a way up from any negative situation. Through continuous learning and through trial and error, I have developed the skills necessary to help those around me in a wide variety of ways. As I see it, my purpose in life is to help others in the fullest ability possible. This passion to help others stems from the very poor conditions I've had to suffer through my whole life, and knowing theres a better life to have fuels my drive to improve not only myself, but to help others around me improve as much as theyre willing to listen and grow alongside me. The satisfaction of aiding others in achieving their objectives or growing as a person is unmatched. I have made it my purpose and passion to help others be their best by believing in the transformative power of support and guidance. Empathy for challenges and a desire for positive change drive me to provide all the help I can, be it through valuable information, problem-solving, or assisting with skill development. Witnessing others thrive brings me inherent satisfaction, and I actively seek opportunities to contribute to their success. My commitment is rooted in the belief in the potential for growth and the impactful nature of supportive interactions. It's an ongoing journey of understanding, adapting, and positively contributing to individuals' well-being and success.

Faith, for me, has been a guiding force shaping my life's journey and has influenced every choice I've made. It has been the word of the lord that has inspired me to strive to be a better person. To let go of anger, and attempt to emulate the forgiveness of Christ towards others who have done me wrong. My values are rooted and instilled by my religious beliefs, and my faith has served as a moral compass, providing a sense of purpose and direction in all triumphs and challenges, especially during hardships. In times of adversity, my faith has been a source of strength to lean on, offering comfort and a perspective beyond the immediate struggles. It has shown me to think past the immediate hardship and to think of the bigger picture. My faith has taught me resilience, urging me to believe in a higher purpose even when circumstances seem bleak. This resilience has been instrumental in overcoming personal setbacks, trauma, loss, and other difficulties of life, for I know I am not alone. Beyond personal growth, my faith motivates me to extend compassion and support to others. I believe that the core principles of Christianity not only call for self-betterment but also for contributing positively to the well-being of those around me. As I reflect on the impact of my faith, I am inspired to translate these beliefs into actions that make a meaningful difference in the lives of others and try to take every opportunity to help those around me that I can, whether it be through community service or a project through my church. I aspire to foster an environment of inclusivity and understanding, embracing diversity and promoting harmony among people of different backgrounds and beliefs, for we are all God's children. In a world often divided by differences, I see the Christian faith as a unifying force, encouraging dialogue and collaboration for the betterment of humanity. Christianity has profoundly impacted my life and has made me the man I am today, providing a framework for personal development and a foundation for contributing to the well-being of others. By integrating the principles of my faith into my daily actions and interactions, I hope to be a conduit for positive change, fostering a community that reflects the values of compassion, empathy, and service. Through these efforts, and a strong relationship with God, I aim to leave an enduring, positive mark on the lives of those around me.
    Elevate Mental Health Awareness Scholarship
As someone who has experienced significant trauma growing up, I can personally attest that a poor state of mental health can have devastating effects on a person. Being an inquisitive person, knowing my situation should be able to be improvable, I reached out for help. I was met with therapists who led me into loopholes of overanalyzing irrelevant details which made me think I was the problem and dosed me with a plethora of ADHD medication and anti-depressants which I didn't want. I aspired for more though and was not at all satisfied with society's regular approach to mental health. Instead, I distanced myself from most social media and from most classmates I knew and sought out better friendships, avoiding toxicity whenever I could. I would reframe my way of conversation to be inquisitive instead of lecturing others, and give out more positive statements, refraining from negative ones. After many years of searching, I was able to find a specialized therapist who could help more specifically related to my background, and that's when the work really started and continues. Through bettering myself I was able to then start working towards those higher aspirations of climbing the social class latter out of poverty and towards better paying work and better living conditions. I am the first and only member of my extended family to have graduated high school for none of my relatives see any value in it, yet even after achieving that I still strove for even higher and am the first of my name to go to college. Having poor mental health and low self-esteem led me to befriend toxic and manipulative people, which I only escaped from after seeking out ways to improve it. The few good relationships I had wouldn't last longer as the depressive waves would be off-putting or the pessimistic stances would be distasteful. It also influenced my own beliefs in a way, as many of my foundational values circle around the fact that not everyone may be at their prime ability to contribute and that we are all fallible people who make mistakes and suffer with our own issues. Having been able to find a therapist who understood the help I needed immensely impacted me and I would not be who I am today had I not sought out some form of improvement of my mental state. Through healing and therapy without addictive and side-effect heavy medication, I am a much more functioning person who is able to contribute value to the relationships and community around me. Not only that, but I am able to pursue higher aspirations as well. As a youth, what I saw around me is that many are judged based on sheer action and appearance, not so much by the content of ones character or intent. With our world degrading around us, and a very poor system of of support for those struggling with mental health, it isn't surprising that many are falling more and more into a world of doom and gloom. Part of why I've decided to pursue a law degree is to be able to stand up for those who have been wrongly charged or took actions because they had no other choice. Being a lawyer would allow me to be a voice for those who otherwise wouldn't have one.
