Hey, it’s KJ! I’m currently pursuing my master’s degree in Sports Communications and Marketing with a goal of building a career in sports broadcasting. Getting here hasn’t been easy. I’m doing much of this on my own without a strong family support system to fall back on. I’ve had to work, figure things out as I go, and keep pushing even when things feel overwhelming. I don’t say that for sympathy—I say it because I’m proud of how far I’ve gotten despite not having the support system many people have. For more than two years, I’ve worked with Clayton State University athletics through writing, media, photography, and game-day coverage. I’ve been able to tell the stories of student-athletes and create content that connects teams with their communities. Those experiences showed me that sports storytelling is where I belong. Outside of sports, I run a YouTube channel where I share motivation, life lessons, and “big sister” advice. I love encouraging young people because I know how much it can mean to have someone believe in you. I’ve worked hard to get here, and I’m determined to finish what I started. A scholarship would take some of the financial pressure off and help me focus on my education, gaining experience, and building the career I’ve dreamed about. I may not have a huge support system behind me, but I’ve learned how to show up for myself. I’m hoping someone will believe in me the same way I continue to believe in myself. 🤍
