I am a nursing student at Arizona College of Nursing and have been the Staffing Coordinator at Centennial Hills Hospital for six years. My passion for wanting to become a nurse was inspired by seeing how compassionate care made a significant difference in my own family during a family members terminal illness. Working behind the scenes in the staffing office has shown me how organization, teamwork, and advocacy can directly impact our patient safety - these are skills I will now carry with me in my nursing journey. My ultimate goal is to become the type of nurse who blends clinical excellence with empathy, ensuring every one of my patients feels supported and every team member empowered.

Choosing to attend the Arizona College of Nursing was one of the most meaningful decisions of my life because it represents the bridge between where I am now and the nurse I want to become. Nursing is more than just a career path for me; it is a calling rooted in both personal experiences and my professional journey in healthcare. I have worked behind the scenes for years in hospital staffing, where I witnessed firsthand the dedication, resilience, and compassion nurses bring to their patients. Being part of that process by ensuring units were staffed, shifts were covered, and patient safety was never compromised has taught me how vital nursing is to the heart of healthcare. But while working in the background has been rewarding, I knew I wanted to step forward and be the one directly providing care, using my skills and compassion to make a difference at the bedside.
What led me to pursue nursing is not one single moment but a collection of experiences, most of which I experienced during the Covid pandemic. Watching patients come through the emergency room in need of immediate care, seeing how nurses advocated for them, and observing how critical decisions can change the course of a patient’s life left a deep impression on me. I realized I didn’t just want to help coordinate care; I wanted to deliver it. Nursing allows me to combine my problem-solving abilities with my compassion for others, while also challenging me to grow in areas like critical thinking and clinical judgment. Arizona College of Nursing stood out to me because of its extremely supportive environment, accelerated structure, and heavy focus on preparing students for real-world nursing challenges. From the very first tour, their program felt like the right fit for someone like me who is eager, driven, and ready to make this transition.
Financially, pursuing nursing school is a major challenge. As someone balancing education with work and family responsibilities, I have to carefully manage my resources to stay on track. Tuition and other costs quickly add up, and while I am fully committed to this path, these expenses can create significant stress. Receiving this scholarship would help relieve some of that burden, allowing me to focus on my studies and clinical practice instead of constantly worrying about how to make ends meet since I changed my work status from full to part time so I could dedicate my time to school. It would also serve as an investment not just in me, but in the patients I will one day serve as a nurse.
Ultimately, what drives me is the belief that every patient deserves safe, compassionate, and competent care. I know that my unique perspective, coming from a role that worked behind the scenes to support nurses and now stepping into the role myself, will give me a deeper appreciation for the teamwork it takes to care for patients. This scholarship would allow me to pursue my dream with less financial strain, complete my education at Arizona College of Nursing, and move forward into a career where I can directly impact lives every day.
