Hello reader my name is Delfon King, I don’t like my first name so I go by “King”, kind of makes me feel like royalty. I am 27, unemployed and at a standstill in life. Before graduating high school I always envisioned myself independent and out of my parents house by 18. I saw myself rich by 21, but made the mistake of taking a break after high school. I became content working 9-5s and continuously put off furthering my education until eventually it was no longer a thought. 9yrs down the line and im full of regrets. This is my third try at college/trade school. My first attempt was at UTI college in Avondale, Az, I attended the auto tech. course for 6months and maintained a 4.5gpa up until I wrecked my motorcycle and was forced to drop out as a result of unwavered class fees. My second attempt at school was at UEI college in Phoenix, Az. I enrolled with an ex and encouraged her to attend the m A program while I was in the hvac course; however I wasn’t employed at the time, had no financial backing or support of any kind and was overwhelmed with the thought of owing a second student loan. Eleventh life happened and we both ended up falling off track and putting a halt to furthering out education. They said third times always the charm; this time around, I re-enrolled back with UEI. This time I’m enrolled in the electrical technician program and my determination is unmatched. Nomore excuses and nomore letting life have its way. I have a new found sense of urgency and a lust to follow through to the end. I will graduate, and at the top of my class, I won’t let anything hold me back, and I will flourish in my career after. I am 27yrs old, live with my mom and have nothing to my name, I want to finish trade school so I can make something of myself and support my people.
