I have wanted to become a nurse since I was in middle school. I would say that my aunt was my main inspiration in becoming a nurse. My whole life I’ve always watched her being a nurse and being happy with life, I always wanted the same life she has for myself when I got older. My Life hasn’t always been the best. Growing up, my parents taught me how to be independent. I’ve always had to go out and get what I wanted on my own with no help. Nursing will definitely help me to become successful in life, so that I’ll never have to depend on anyone. Nursing also means a lot to me, because my mother has had a tumor in her head since I was six years old. As I’ve gotten older she has got sicker. She always referred to me as her “mini nurse”, because I was always there to help her and take care of her. I feel like that’s something else that has inspired me to become a nurse. The thought of me being able to help her get better has always been something I wanted. I know for a fact nursing will help me to do just that. My dad hasn’t truly been there for me as he should’ve in life. He has always doubted my dreams of becoming a nurse. So me fulfilling this dream will help me to prove to him that I’m more than what he believes me to be. Half of me making my nursing career happen is to prove something to him, but also to myself. I feel like half of me has doubted myself, because of him. My specific area of nursing that I would love to pursue is Mother Baby. A postpartum or mother-baby nurse is tasked to caring for both mother and newborn baby once a birth has taken place. This nurse utilizes a strong set of skills to recognize and act upon postpartum emergencies for both patients. I became interested in this area of nursing, because of the love that I’ve always had for babies and taking care of them. Me becoming a nurse and getting through college means the world to me. It’ll help me progress in life while completing my dream job. Not only that, I want to be financially stable and happy with life. I don’t want to have to need anybody or worry about anything in life. Nursing will help me to become successful and do this and everything I’ve ever dreamed of !
