I being a victim , I can talk about this all day but let me get straight to the point. Turning 18 years of age felt like a big turn of life and I felt like I needed to figure it all out at once ; College , Adulthood , Relationships both with friends and others , moving out ... that all felt like a slap on the face. I remember hearing the same thing everyday , "Kimberley when are you going to move out ?" "when are you planning on going to college ?" tax rates? What sounded like ordinary questions often became pressure. That experience taught me that mental health support should not be something people seek only when they have reached a breaking point. My contribution would be to help make mental health education and early support accessible to young people, especially students who may not have the financial resources to afford traditional care. I want to help create communities where asking for help is normal, affordable, and free from shame. I believe affordable mental health care begins with awareness, education, and compassion. I want to use my future career in psychology to help make that a reality.

My nursing career will give me the opportunity to improve people’s health not only by caring for them when they are sick, but also by helping them prevent illness and develop healthier lifestyles. Asking does not always mean not knowing it could indicate curiosity.Most of us believe that we must solve everything on our own because our families sacrificed a lot already for us to be there ; no , you are human too and It is very okay to be YOU. I think of it like yesterday when I set foot in the united states of America, not only was I a first generation student but also an International student, yes you heard that right. I had very giant shoes to fill and a family waiting back home for me. The pressure grew closer and time felt like it flew by on me. Financial pressure, academics , housing, name it I had to figure it all out myself, it’s not like I could easily reach back out to my parents who never finished studying to ask for college advice. Firstly i want to say that im really grateful for this opportunity and that i am happy to be able to share this journey with so many people , it hasnt been easy at all for me and being here is somthing that i am really happy to share. Growing up, I always believed in God, but as I’ve gotten older especially around 19 I’ve realized how much my faith has actually shaped who I am. It hasn’t been something loud or dramatic; instead, it’s been a steady, quiet presence that shows up when I need it most. My relationship with God has helped me stay grounded during times when everything felt uncertain, and it has kept me moving forward even when I doubted myself. One of the biggest ways my faith has helped me is by giving me a sense of direction. At 19, life can feel like a lot of pressure. People expect you to know what you want to do, where you want to go, and who you want to become, even though you're just starting to figure everything out. There have been moments when I felt overwhelmed by all of it school, responsibilities, expectations, tuition , expenses and figuring out what my future should look like. During those times, prayer gave me a mental space to slow down and breathe. Taking my worries to God helped me realize that I don’t have to have every answer right now, and that the path I’m on can still make sense, even if it isn’t perfect. My faith has also helped me become more patient and resilient. There have been times when I struggled whether academically, emotionally, or even socially and I questioned whether things would ever improve.
