The smell of stress lingered all throughout my kitchen with my parents sitting on the kitchen table thinking about how they're going to make ends meet. I often saw my parents struggle with bills, taxes, and other financial matters because of language barriers and limited knowledge of financial systems. Their faces were unforgettable but their determination and resilience was so inspiring. Having to see my parents struggle so much didn't make me feel pity for them but it taught me that no matter how difficult things became, I should always find a way to keep going. Their strength made me more confident and determined to create a better future, not only for them but for other families like ours. These experiences motivated me to pursue a degree in accounting. I want to help families navigate the same financial challenges my parents faced, particularly those who are held back by language barriers or a lack of access to resources. My first step is to attend community college, where I can earn my associate’s degree while saving money. From there, I plan to transfer to a university to complete my bachelor’s degree in accounting. This path allows me to stay financially responsible while pursuing my goals. In the future, I hope to start a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping families manage their finances, file taxes, and handle bills. My goal is to make these services accessible and affordable, particularly for families who struggle with language barriers or limited financial knowledge. I also hope to hire individuals who share similar experiences, kids who grew up helping their parents the way I did. Together we can create a cycle of support that empowers families to achieve financial stability. This journey I plan to accomplish is deeply personal and I want to turn my experiences into something meaningful to make a difference in the world.
