Bio

I am a homeschooling mom pursuing my Doctorate in Pastoral (biblical) Counseling from Liberty University. I have two boys 12 and 10, as well as a friend's son that I homeschool with my children, and a little girl I tutor remotely! I also started a homeschool and community service club with over 20 families in my community- The Salt and Light Kids Club in Point TX. My priority is loving, obeying, and delighting in the Lord, and next is my family. I love to fish, read, and teach the Word of God- I hope I can get some help paying for school, because its expensive and I am still paying for my Master's (and some of my bachelors!) My plan with this education is to provide counseling services for children, families, and married couples trying to survive and thrive in this crazy world. I believe the Word of God is the answer to all questions! Amen? Amen! Thanks for checking me out, Blessings to you. Hope you know how GOOD GOD IS!

Hello, my name is Kimberlie Ann Derrick, I am a mature Black woman already living the life of my dreams, with a family and a job, but I want more! I have never heard of a Black women living anywhere near me trying to get a Doctorate in Ministry. I dream of being the first. I dream of standing out in a world where no one looks or thinks like I do. My calling is helping others, particularly women and children know God, by understanding His word, His grace, and His plan for salvation through Jesus Christ. I have a passion for seeing and helping people come to a better understanding of the scriptures. I have been blessed to learn more about God by submerging myself into His word, acquiring a master’s degree in Theological studies, and spending much time listening to and reading sermons by MLK, Spurgeon, Edwards, Calvin, and other noted pastors and theologians of the past. I have a great love for God’s word, hearing it preached, and maturing in the walk of a believer. I believe this gives me a better understanding of the world and the people struggling in it, as well as a better foundation to fight the enemies of the world, the flesh, and the devil. My vocational ministry goals include continuing to pursue childhood learning, engagement with the scriptures, and counseling services through that same pursuit. I believe all the wounds of the world can be healed by the salve of Christ applied to the soul. I started a Christian Homeschool and Community service group almost a year and a half ago and have seen it grow to over 25 families, which I engage weekly with a deeper walk with Christ through prayer, education, activities, and fellowship. I also have the opportunity to mentor several young ladies about motherhood and marriage using the Bible as the main source of learning and power. A key ministry problem I feel needs to be addressed in today’s culture which is appropriate to advanced professional study is the daunting plague of twisted scripture. The gospel has been corrupted and sold for cheap. Churches are built on man-based thoughts, rather than God breathed scripture. The result has been devastating to families, marriages, children and individuals. The Word is the solution. Salvation is the key. Christ is the only One who can heal the wounds of the soul. I believe acquiring this advanced learning will only serve to deepen my knowledge of the scriptures, humble my soul with the greatness of a Holy, Just, and Loving God, and lead to the ability of providing counseling services for people who need a good dose of Jesus. Thank you for taking the time to hear my heart and hope of pursuing this doctorate program.
