I am currently studying at the Northwest College of Art and Design, aiming for a bachelors degree in fine arts. I've always loved art and anything to do with creating so naturally art school was the next step for me after high school, I chose to major in Graphic Design and Illustration. Im passionate about this field of study because art is how I communicate visually and I believe its a very effective and unique form of expression. As of right now I can't say whether I'll end up in a more graphic design related career or illustration career but I'd be glad to do either, thus my choice in major. My favorite part of both though is the ability to visually express my ideas and mind to others. Graphic design is an important part of everyday life considering the digital world we increasingly find ourselves living in and I hope one day to put my designs out there and make both our digital and physical world a little bit more exciting and beautiful, as that's what I feel is one of the major goals of graphic design besides communicating. I would love to do the same through Illustration as well. Ive always loved illustrations in books as they communicate something without words to the viewer reader and I've also always wished I could have a career that involves children and how to communicate with them. Story books are a big part of this, especially the illustrative aspect as often times that can be the best way to express something to a child. I hope that one day I could receive the opportunity to take on a job like this as story books and illustrations had a lasting impact on me as a child and I would love to do the same for future generations. Seeing the art and colors in my favorite picture books and even some novels later in my childhood inspired me to be creative and put my ideas to paper and I strongly believe it played a huge role in where I am today, studying art in college. Art can also make a difference in the world simply by existing and that's something I will always contribute too. It has been a fundamental part of humanity forever and I feel a great importance in continuing it throughout my life. So no matter what career I decide on I know I will always be creating and doing what I am passionate about.
