Over the next five years, I am committed to creating a positive environmental and social impact in my community by channeling my passion and talents in the hospitality and culinary industry. Food has always been my language of love and connection—a medium through which I bring people together and create moments of joy, nourishment, and belonging. Ever since I was a little girl, baking and cooking have been at the heart of how I express care for others. It all began with a simple Easy-Bake Oven gifted to me by my mother. That small toy became the spark that ignited my lifelong passion for the culinary arts and the deeper purpose of hospitality. From that early age of seven, I discovered the power food had to captivate, comfort, and connect. I would bake treats for my family and friends, witnessing their delight and joy with every bite. This sense of fulfillment, of nurturing others through flavor and creativity, laid the foundation for my ultimate goal: to open a brick-and-mortar bakery café—an inclusive, welcoming space where diverse individuals come together over thoughtfully crafted food. With a vision to serve and uplift my community, I launched my home-based bakery, Jasmine’s Tea Cakes LLC. I intentionally focused on creating desserts that catered to a wide variety of dietary needs—gluten-free, vegan, sugar-free, and paleo options—ensuring that no one felt excluded from the simple pleasure of dessert. This was more than a business decision; it was a reflection of my belief that food should be an inclusive, healing, and joyful experience for everyone. Through sustainable sourcing and conscious baking practices, I began integrating environmentally friendly habits into my culinary work—reducing waste, choosing organic ingredients, and using eco-friendly packaging wherever possible. I took my mission to the local farmers markets every weekend, rain or shine. My dedication paid off—week after week, I sold out completely. I was even invited to vend at a local winery, an opportunity that helped expand my reach. But what truly moved me was the personal stories shared by my customers. One particularly memorable moment was when a repeat customer with celiac disease tracked me down at an event just to share how grateful he was for my gluten-free desserts. He told me mine were the only ones he could enjoy without discomfort—and with delight. It was in that moment I realized the deeper impact of my work: I wasn’t just baking, I was creating joy, accessibility, and inclusion through food. Though I had no formal culinary training and managed everything on my own, Jasmine’s Tea Cakes became a testament to what passion, persistence, and purpose can achieve. It also revealed to me how food can be a powerful tool for environmental and social good. From supporting local vendors and minimizing food waste to advocating for inclusive hospitality, I’ve learned how every choice I make as a culinary professional can help create a more compassionate, sustainable world. Looking forward, I am more determined than ever to grow this vision into a permanent café space that serves not only delicious pastries, but also serves as a hub for community, sustainability, and hospitality. I want my bakery café to be a place that hosts community events, promotes environmentally responsible practices, and brings people of all backgrounds together around the table. Through this next chapter, I intend to make an even greater impact—one that nourishes both people and the planet.
