Bio

My life goals are centered around making a meaningful impact in the lives of others, especially young people. I aspire to earn a degree in Psychology and build a career as a school psychologist or counselor in the K–12 system. My goal is to create safe, supportive spaces where students feel seen, heard, and valued, while helping them navigate challenges such as self-esteem, bullying, and emotional well-being. I am most passionate about mental health awareness, youth development, and empowering others to recognize their worth. My passion comes from my own experiences with overcoming self-doubt at a young age. Those challenges shaped my desire to help others build confidence and resilience. In addition to my academic interests, I am also passionate about storytelling through film and television, using it as a platform to inspire, educate, and positively influence young audiences. I am a great candidate because I bring resilience, discipline, and purpose to everything I do. Balancing academics with my experience in acting and modeling has taught me time management, perseverance, and professionalism. More importantly, I lead with empathy and a genuine desire to uplift others. I am committed not only to achieving my goals, but to using my journey and education to create opportunities and support for those who need it most. Ultimately, my purpose is to turn my experiences into impact—and to be a voice and support system for the next generation.

As a 19-year-old Black young woman from a low-income family, financial hardship has shaped my life. My mother, as the sole provider for me and my two siblings, worked tirelessly to give us opportunities, but it came at a cost. We lived in shelters three or four times, faced eviction threats, and had cars repossessed. With her credit damaged, my mom couldn't access loans and struggled to get back on her feet. Despite this, she invested in me paying for acting and singing classes to keep me engaged, even when money was tight. I saw firsthand the sacrifices and the financial missteps. My mother wanted to keep me out of trouble, but sometimes bills came second to my extracurriculars. I deeply appreciate her efforts, but I also recognize the toll it took. We all had to pitch in, I work part-time while in school, and together we’re trying to help her carry the weight. Even so, we continue to struggle. These experiences showed me that financial literacy is life-changing. I’ve learned how important it is to budget, plan for emergencies, and balance dreams with responsibilities. I’m committed to learning from these challenges. I take financial and investment classes in school, where I’m learning how to save and invest. I’ve opened a high-yield savings account and contribute every time I get paid. My goal is to grow it steadily, so I have a foundation for emergencies and future goals. I plan to use what I’ve learned to secure a stable future building credit wisely, saving for emergencies, and making informed financial decisions. My goal is not just to avoid the traps my family faced, but to thrive. Beyond myself, I want to give back. I hope to mentor young people from backgrounds like mine, sharing what I’ve learned so they can make smart financial choices early. I believe that when we equip young people with financial knowledge, we empower them to break cycles and build better futures. My journey has taught me that financial literacy isn’t just about money it’s about securing a brighter tomorrow. In the future, once I graduate college and achieve financial stability, my greatest aspiration is to give back to my mom. She sacrificed so much to support me, and I want to repay her in every way possible. My goal is to help her get out of debt, secure stable housing, and enjoy life without financial worry. I aspire not only to care for her needs but also to give her the peace and security she always wanted for us. In doing so, I’ll be fulfilling both a personal dream and a promise to break the cycle for future generations.

When I was around six years old, I struggled deeply with self-love and confidence because I was often bullied about my appearance. As a young Black girl, I shouldn’t have been worried about how I looked—I should have been focused on learning, growing, and enjoying life. Instead, the constant teasing made me feel invisible and unworthy. I began comparing myself to others, searching for validation from people who didn’t recognize my worth. At one point, I felt so hopeless that I questioned whether my life had any meaning at all. Over time, I realized that if I didn’t love myself, no one else could do it for me. Friendships I once considered close began to feel strained and competitive, which pushed me to turn inward and truly understand myself. That became my turning point. I started taking care of myself not just physically, but emotionally. I wrote in my journal, explored hobbies I loved—singing in my church choir, modeling, dancing—and slowly began to rebuild my confidence. I learned that confidence is not built on other people’s opinions, but on self-acceptance and purpose. Today, my strength comes from the same struggles that once made me doubt myself. I use my story to encourage young girls who may feel the way I once did, reminding them that they are beautiful, capable, and enough just as they are. It is the reason I act, the reason I lead, and the reason I continue to push forward—no matter how many times I hear “no.” Believing in myself when no one else does is the most powerful role I will ever play. With my education in psychology, I aim to make a lasting impact on people’s emotional well-being, whether I work with children, adolescents, or adults. I chose psychology because I’ve always been fascinated by how the human mind shapes our experiences. My own journey—overcoming self-esteem challenges and learning to thrive—has shown me the power of self-awareness and support. Now, I want to help others find that same strength, and psychology provides the ideal path. In a K–12 setting, I envision myself as a school counselor or psychologist. I would provide students with a safe space to discuss their fears, anxieties, and goals. Adolescence is a critical time—students often face peer pressure, self-doubt, or academic stress. By providing early intervention and emotional support, I believe I can help shape their futures. Imagine a student who once doubted their abilities leaving school with newfound confidence—that’s the impact I want to make. If I work with adults, I hope to offer counseling that helps them navigate life transitions, whether that’s career stress, family issues, or self-esteem challenges. Psychology gives me the tools to help people understand themselves better, break through emotional barriers, and live more fulfilled lives. I would find success in seeing clients rediscover their sense of purpose, overcome obstacles, and take control of their lives. I’m also excited by the possibility of combining my psychology background with business and creative outlets. I might develop workshops that teach emotional resilience or design media content that raises mental health awareness. Psychology is flexible, and I want to explore ways to bring mental health advocacy into different spaces—schools, workplaces, or even broader public platforms. In five years, success will mean knowing I’ve made a difference—seeing a student realize their potential or an adult find peace. I want to be that person people trust to guide them through difficult times. Ultimately, I chose psychology because it allows me to transform empathy, knowledge, and personal experience into a lifelong mission of helping others thrive.
