Nursing is an incredibly rewarding profession that offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Being a nurse allows you to provide essential care and support to patients during some of their most vulnerable moments. The ability to offer comfort, assistance, and compassion to those in need can be deeply fulfilling and impactful. The nursing shortage is creating significant pressure on our healthcare system. With fewer nurses open, the remaining staff often face raised workloads, causing lengthy wait times for patients and lowered interactions between nurses and patients. This can compromise the quality of care, as nurses may have a shorter time to address the emotional and physical needs of each patient. The stress and tiredness resulting from these conditions can impact the nurses' ability to provide human and useful care. The demanding nature of nursing emphasizes the need for better support systems for nurses. Improving working conditions by ensuring good staffing levels and providing mental health resources can help reduce burnout and retain skilled professionals. Offering competitive salaries, manageable workloads, and opportunities for professional development is a major need since nurses have expenses they need to pay. I believe in the importance of spending meaningful time with patients and providing the necessary support for them to express themselves. Whether it's offering comfort and reassurance during difficult times when facing the risk of death, or simply brightening their day with a warm smile during routine check-ins, I aim to make a positive impact. My decision to pursue a career in nursing is deeply rooted in my childhood experiences, where I observed firsthand the immense sacrifices that my parents made to ensure the well-being of our large family of seven. This upbringing instilled in me a sense of empathy and compassion, and it's these values that I hope to embody in my future nursing practice.I have a deep passion for nursing that stems from my desire to celebrate human connection and provide compassionate care to those in need. I believe in the significance of time and support in helping patients and their loved ones through difficult times. In Conclusion, focusing on enhancing human connection, improving work conditions, providing educational incentives, and engaging the community can help address the shortage and work towards a more compassionate and effective healthcare system.Nurses have the unique ability to bring comfort and healing to those in need, and their passion for serving others often stems from personal experiences and a genuine desire to make a meaningful impact on the world.

It's a YouTube video titled “My Final Farewell Before I Die”. I was scrolling through my phone and clicked on the video. It was the first time I've heard about the concept of a living funeral, it's when a person invites the ones closest to them to celebrate their life. The video highlights that many people with life-threatening illnesses don't have the chance to celebrate life with loved ones. I chose this video to reflect on how it will impact my future nursing career. The current big problem in the Healthcare system is that death is not humanized. This leaves loved ones without enough time to spend with patients at risk of death. The words death and die have a stigma associated with them as something bad. I'm grateful for the knowledge I've gained from watching this video. I thank Mike for sharing such a personal moment. As humans, we require the bonding moments that come with spending time together. Becoming a nurse is not solely for financial gain, but to positively impact communities. I aspire to be the kind of nurse who aids everyone. The type of nurse I dream of becoming is a nurse who celebrates human connection and values the significance of time and support of expression for patients and their loved ones. It's difficult times like facing the risk of death or an everyday check-in providing a smile. My childhood is the reason why I chose nursing, showing sacrifice. Growing up in a family of seven, I witnessed the sacrifices my parents made to ensure our well-being. I imagine myself prioritizing empathy and compassion in my care. For example, passing my patients a box of tissues when they're crying. My aunt is currently suffering from kidney failure, she relies on her dialysis nurses care 4 days every week. When she was diagnosed, we didn't know what kidney failure was or how serious it was. Thankfully, we had her nurse sit down with us as a family to get information on it. The nurse also made sure to answer our concerns and provided us with a pamphlet of the diet she should follow. I'm spending more time with my aunt as her condition worsens. I've seen her several times just this week. It is getting hard for her to walk and she can't run at all. I hug her tight while I smile and laugh at her jokes. My aunt has been telling me about the latest show she's been watching and how the main character has an interesting double life. Sometimes I have to distract her because she rushes into the kitchen when I come to make me a meal. When I leave I hug her and let her know that I love her. Together, we're celebrating life since it's not forever like we wish.
