Since I've seen technology, I've been amazed with its potential, especially in coding. As a 19-year-old college student at North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, I am working hard towards the future that I desire. That future is using my knowledge of computer science to serve my community, particularly my hometown, Rocky Mount, NC. My computer science goals are very clear: I aspire to be a tech entrepreneur, similar to industries like Google and Microsoft, who have undeniably shaped our access to information. My foundation in computer engineering equips me to create innovative software and hardware solutions with the potential to enhance people's lives. Founding a tech company in the future is not a dream for me, but rather a goal that I am determined to reach. My goals go beyond the realms of computer science. I want to make a positive difference in my community so that it may continue to progress and raise up innovators. This commitment comes from my childhood where access to technology and educational opportunities was not common. Being a victim of this and witnessing the lack in my community inspired me to bridge this gap and help other underserved communities by opening up opportunities through technology. In the future, I envision myself using my innovation and computer science goals with my dedication to community service. While certainly I have a dream, my ultimate mission is to give back to my hometown, Rocky Mount. I want to establish a tech company that not only leads in innovation but also wholeheartedly participates in community outreach. My company will use resources for educational programs aimed at providing underprivileged students in Rocky Mount access to coding classes, mentorship programs, and scholarships. This will open doors to opportunities which previously seemed like a wish upon a star. I aim to design technology solutions that tackle pressing issues within my community, such as improving healthcare accessibility, public transportation, and sustainable practices. I plan to join with local organizations, schools, and community outreach centers to offer different programs. This would look like tech workshops, career development resources, interview practice, and digital literacy programs, so that no one is left behind in our growing digital world. By intertwining my passion for technology with my commitment to my hometown I want to uplift the community. I am driven by the fact that technology can bring about meaningful and impactful change to my community. In this plan, I am dedicated to staying focused on my goals. I believe that if I work hard enough I can turn my dream into reality. I want to make a lasting impact on both the tech industry and my community of Rocky Mount, NC.
