      Wicked Fan Scholarship
I have always been a fan of Wicked because it offers a completely different perspective on a classic "evil" character. Growing up and watching The Wizard of Oz, I always thought the Wicked Witch was evil for no reason. I couldn't understand why she acted so cruelly toward Dorothy. However, watching her story in Wicked shed a new light on her character and showed me just how relatable a villain can be. Through Elphaba’s journey, I began to understand the pain of being judged based on appearance. Her experience reminds us that we need to stop judging people based on how they look; it is truly what is on the inside that counts. The story also highlights the power of friendship. Seeing how much of a difference a supportive friend can make—even when the world is against you—really resonated with me. By the end, I found myself deeply relating to the character I once misunderstood. My favorite quote from the show is, "Everyone deserves the chance to fly." I stand by this because I believe everyone deserves a fair chance in life, regardless of how they are perceived by others. That is why I am such a fan. Ut taught me that there are always two sides to every story and that kindness and support can help anyone find their wings.
      Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I became a fan of Sabrina Carpenter after seeing her appear on Saturday Night Live as a special guest with Quinta Brunson. They performed a song about being short, and it instantly caught my attention. For the record, I am 5ft tall and the struggle of being short is real. The fact that she could turn something so simple into something funny and confident made her feel relatable. In that moment, I became a fan because she embraced something people might tease and turned it into empowerment. After that, I decided to explore her music more, and I was amazed. I honestly felt like I had been living under a rock because her songs connected to me in ways I didn’t expect. I started with her recent hit “Espresso.” It is confident, catchy, and full of personality. The song radiates independence and self-assurance, almost like a reminder not to shrink yourself for anyone. As a teenage girl navigating expectations from school, peers, and social media, that message feels powerful. I also connected deeply with her album Emails I Can’t Send. The album feels like reading someone’s private thoughts. It was raw, emotional, and honest. There was also songs that talked about heartbreak, growth and finding your voice. As a teenager, there are moments when emotions feel overwhelming and difficult to explain. Hearing someone articulate those feelings through music made me feel like I am not alone. It reminded me that confusion and growth are normal parts of becoming who I am. Learning about Sabrina’s personal challenges and how she has stayed true to herself despite public scrutiny impacted me. It made me realize that even people in the spotlight struggle with expectations. Whether you are famous or just trying to fit in at school, the pressure to meet others’ standards can feel heavy. Sabrina’s career shows that confidence comes from embracing who you are instead of constantly trying to please others. Being a fan of Sabrina Carpenter is more than enjoying her music. It is about seeing someone confidently own her story and learning to do the same in my own life.
