My aunt's journey through domestic violence is a harrowing story to tell, one marked by pain, resilience, and the quest for salvation. Growing up, she was the personification of strength, grace, and unflattering love. Nevertheless, behind closed doors, she undergoes a reality that is wrapped in terror and uncertainty.
The rotation of abuse began behind closed doors, and gradually escalating from verbal degradation to physical violence. Each blow imposed upon her fragile body was accompanied by an abstruse sense of betrayal, as the man she loved and had four kids with transformed into a tyrant fueled with a scary temper and unassertiveness. In spite of the bruises that embellish her skin like a weaving of pain, my aunt remained faithful in her resolve to protect her children and rescue what remained of her shattered dignity.
Her expedition toward releasing was a fraught with obstacles, from a collective stigma to financial instability. Even now, fueled by an Invincible spirit and the enduring support of her loved ones, she mustered the courage to break free from the chains of Persecution. With each step she took toward liberation, she recovered a piece of herself that had been sadly lost among the disorder and despair.
As I enter on my journey through higher education, I am severely aware of the Abstruse impact that fundamental barriers have on the lives of African American women who are bound in the vicious cycle of domestic violence. Through multifaceted studies in psychology, sociology, and public health, I aspire to equip myself with the knowledge and skills needed to take apart these railings and foster a culture of enabling and healing.

This embrace advocating for ethically competent services that address the unique needs and experiences of survivors, as well as facilitating collaboration between various stakeholders, including healthcare providers, law enforcement agencies, and community-based organizations.
On the other hand, I recognize the transformational power of education in encouraging resilience and qualifying individuals to break free from the chains of persecution. Through outreach resourcefulness and educational programs, I Keyouna Wilson aspire to raise awareness about the occurrence and impact of domestic violence within African American communities, while providing survivors with the funds and support they need to recover their agency and regather their lives.
