Some of the most meaningful moments in my life have come from simply showing up for others. Whether it was handing out supplies at a Salvation Army drive or sitting beside someone who just needed company, I’ve learned that small acts of kindness can leave a lasting impact. Through my volunteer work with the Salvation Army, I helped organize food, clothing, and donation drives for families in need. Seeing the relief and gratitude on people’s faces made me realize how powerful service can be. At Lancaster Grove Senior Living Center, I’ve built connections with elderly residents by playing games, talking, and listening to their stories. Many of them don’t have visitors often, so being there for them has taught me empathy, patience, and the importance of human connection. These experiences have shaped not only who I am, but also who I want to become. I plan to pursue a career in medicine as a neurologist, where I can combine my love for science with my passion for helping others. Volunteering has shown me that care goes beyond physical needs—it’s also about emotional support and making people feel seen. I want to be a doctor who listens, who understands, and who treats every patient with compassion and respect. My goal is to serve communities that may not always have access to quality healthcare. I want to be someone people can trust during their most difficult moments, and someone who brings both knowledge and comfort. Outside of school, I find joy and purpose in reading, writing, and music. I’ve always loved storytelling, and now I’ve begun writing my own fantasy novels as a way to express my creativity. Writing allows me to explore emotions, ideas, and different perspectives, helping me better understand both myself and others. Music is also a huge part of who I am because I come from a musical family. Many of my relatives sing or have been part of church choirs, and music has always been something that connects us. Whether I’m singing or listening, it brings me peace and reminds me of where I come from. The person who motivates me most is my mother. She moved from New York to North Carolina with almost nothing, yet built her own hair salon business from the ground up. Watching her grow as an entrepreneur has shown me what true strength, determination, and faith look like. She never gives up, no matter how hard things get, and she continues to support me in every goal I pursue. Her work ethic and belief in me push me to keep going, even when things feel overwhelming. Because of her, I know that success comes from persistence, sacrifice, and believing in yourself. Everything I’ve experienced has taught me to lead with compassion, work with purpose, and never quit. I strive to make a difference not just through my future career, but through the way I treat people every day. I want my life to be one that gives back, uplifts others, and creates lasting change. Like the Kelley family’s belief that “never quit” is a way of life, I carry that mindset with me in everything I do.
Jeannine Schroeder Women in Public Service Memorial Scholarship
Throughout my life, I have been passionate about mental health advocacy, a cause that I believe is one of the most pressing social issues today. Many people, especially young people, struggle in silence because of stigma, lack of resources, or simply not knowing where to turn for help. I have witnessed firsthand how isolating it can be for those around me, including many of my friends who are neurodivergent. Seeing their struggles inspired me to take action by offering emotional support, educating myself on mental health, and now pursuing a career path where I can make a bigger difference. In high school, I made it my mission to be someone my friends could trust. I became the person who listened when they needed to talk, advocated for more understanding among our peers, and helped them find resources when they needed support beyond what I could provide. These experiences led me to decide to major in psychology in college, so that I can deepen my knowledge of the human mind and be part of the solution. My dream is to one day work as a psychologist or counselor, providing affordable and accessible mental health care, especially for marginalized and underserved communities. Beyond personal support, I’ve also taken steps to get involved more broadly. Through my church, I have participated in community outreach projects that help families in crisis, offering not just physical resources but emotional care. Through the Technology Student Association, I developed leadership and communication skills that strengthened my ability to advocate for others. Every action, big or small, has been a step toward creating a world where empathy and compassion are just as important as academic success. What drives me most is the belief that everyone deserves to be seen, heard, and cared for. There were times in my own life when I felt invisible or misunderstood, and those experiences made me realize how crucial it is to have people who genuinely listen and offer hope. I want to be that person for someone else. By pursuing a career centered on service, empathy, and education, I hope to not only help individuals heal but also to break the larger societal barriers that prevent people from getting the support they need. Healing communities starts with healing individuals, and I am determined to be part of that change. The social issue of mental health often goes unspoken until it becomes a crisis. I want to change that. By working toward a world where seeking help is seen as a strength and where mental health care is available to everyone, I hope to honor the values that Jeannine Schroeder stood for — compassion, service, and making the world a better place. This scholarship would not only support my education but would also empower me to continue this mission, making a real difference in the lives of others.
    Future Women In STEM Scholarship
For as long as I can remember, STEM has been a part of my life. Growing up, I was always drawn to science and technology, fascinated by how things worked and how problems could be solved creatively. Attending STEM academies throughout my life has only deepened that passion, surrounding me with opportunities to explore engineering, mathematics, and technology in ways that constantly challenged and inspired me. One of the most defining experiences in my STEM journey has been my time in the Technology Student Association (TSA). At first, I was hesitant to compete, unsure if I was ready for the challenge. But once I stepped into my first competition, I realized how much I loved pushing my limits, thinking critically, and working through challenges in innovative ways. Over the years, I’ve participated in multiple competitions, earning several awards that have reinforced my confidence and love for STEM. Each project I worked on required problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience—skills that have shaped me into a stronger thinker and leader. Beyond competition, TSA taught me the value of persistence. Not every project went smoothly; some ideas failed, and unexpected challenges always arose. But instead of feeling discouraged, I learned to adapt, revise my approach, and keep moving forward. That mindset has influenced the way I approach every aspect of my academic and personal life, reminding me that failure isn’t an endpoint—it’s a stepping stone toward success. Being in STEM academies also allowed me to explore a wide range of subjects, from coding and engineering to biology and physics. Each experience strengthened my passion for discovery, making me eager to dive deeper into complex topics. These programs not only prepared me academically but also gave me a sense of belonging in a field where I could constantly challenge myself to grow. Looking ahead, I want to take everything I’ve learned—from STEM academies to TSA—and apply it to my future studies. I plan to pursue psychology, combining my love for science with my natural curiosity about human behavior. STEM isn’t just about numbers and formulas; it’s about understanding patterns, solving problems, and making connections, all of which are critical in the study of the human brain. STEM has shaped who I am today, teaching me resilience, curiosity, and a love for learning. No matter where my career takes me, I know that my foundation in STEM will always guide me, pushing me to innovate, grow, and make an impact in whatever I do.
    LeBron James Fan Scholarship
I’ve never been a huge basketball expert, but I’ve learned a lot about the sport from my dad, who is a huge fan of LeBron James. My dad has been following LeBron’s career from the beginning, and he’s the reason I even started watching basketball in the first place. He admires LeBron’s incredible work ethic, leadership, and determination on and off the court. Even now, as LeBron’s son, Bronny, is getting into the game, my dad still follows LeBron’s career closely, and I know he’ll continue to do so until LeBron retires. It’s more than just basketball for my dad—it’s about following a player who represents excellence and perseverance. While I don’t know everything about basketball, I’ve come to admire LeBron James for the way he handles his success and challenges. His dedication to his craft, his philanthropy, and the way he’s mentored young athletes like Bronny has made a significant impact on me. I’ve learned from my dad to respect not just his talent, but the person LeBron is off the court as well. Is LeBron the greatest of all time? I think he’s definitely up there. His consistency, longevity, and influence on the game have set him apart from so many others. While there’s always debate about who the greatest is, I can’t help but cheer LeBron on, as his determination and drive have rubbed off on me, just like they did on my dad.
ADHDAdvisor's Mental Health Advocate Scholarship for Health Students
Throughout my life, I’ve always been deeply connected to the people around me, especially when it comes to supporting their mental health. Many of my friends are neurodivergent, and I’ve made it a point to be there for them when they need someone to talk to or lean on. I know how important it is to feel seen and heard, especially when dealing with mental health struggles, and I’ve always tried my best to provide a safe and understanding space for them. Whether lending a listening ear or simply being present, I’ve learned that sometimes, just being there makes all the difference. These experiences have shaped my desire to study psychology in college. I want to understand the complexities of the human brain better and learn how to help people who are going through difficult mental health challenges. I feel called to this field because I’m deeply empathetic, and I believe everyone deserves emotional support, especially those who may feel misunderstood or alone in their struggles. I want to offer more than just my support—I want to gain the knowledge and tools to help others more meaningfully. My dream is to eventually use my studies and future career to emotionally support people, not just in professional settings but also in my daily interactions. I want to be someone who can make a real impact, whether helping someone navigate a challenging moment or providing guidance for long-term healing. I believe that becoming a psychologist can help people find hope and strength in their struggles, just as I’ve tried to do for my friends. It’s my mission to make a difference and offer the kind of support that can help people move forward with confidence and resilience.
    Wicked Fan Scholarship
Music has been in my soul from the moment I was born. I come from a musical family, where most of my relatives have been involved in church choirs or found their own ways to express themselves through song. Growing up surrounded by music, it became a constant in my life, and something I turned to for comfort and expression. I’ve always loved singing, whether it’s in the car, in the shower, or just around the house, and music has been my escape, my joy, and my way to connect with the world around me. One musical that has always stood out to me is *Wicked*. From the first time I heard the songs, I felt this deep connection. The story of Elphaba, the misunderstood “Wicked Witch,” hit me on such a personal level. When I was younger, I often felt like an outcast, different from everyone else around me, like I didn’t belong. Elphaba’s journey of feeling isolated and rejected, yet still finding her strength and purpose, really spoke to my own struggles. She showed me that even though we might feel different or alone, there’s something powerful about embracing who we are. *Wicked* resonates with me not just because of its beautiful music, but because it reminds me of the journey I’ve been on. As I’ve grown, I’ve learned to accept and love my uniqueness, just as Elphaba learns to do. It’s a reminder that our differences are what make us special, and that we all have a story worth telling. For me, *Wicked* has been more than just a musical—it’s been a source of strength and healing, reminding me that even in moments of loneliness, there’s beauty in embracing who we are.
    Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish’s music has always felt deeply personal to me. Her songs reflect raw emotion and vulnerability, often speaking to experiences and feelings that many people, including myself, can relate to. Three of her songs— “Happier Than Ever,” “What Was I Made For?” and “Lovely”—have had a profound impact on me because they capture the struggles, growth, and self-reflection that I’ve experienced in my own life. “Happier Than Ever” is a song that expresses the frustration and relief that comes with shedding toxic relationships and finally finding peace. The way Billie transitions from calm to explosive in this song reflects how I’ve felt when breaking free from situations that no longer served me. It’s empowering to listen to, reminding me that it’s okay to prioritize my own happiness and well-being, even if it means making difficult decisions. “What Was I Made For?” is another song that speaks to me on a deep level. It captures that feeling of confusion and yearning for purpose, something I’ve grappled with at times in my own life. Billie’s lyrics express an honest vulnerability that makes me feel like I’m not alone in questioning my place in the world. This song resonates because it reminds me that it’s okay to not have all the answers, and that finding purpose is a journey, not a destination. Finally, “Lovely,” featuring Khalid, is a song that perfectly encapsulates the complexity of mental health. The haunting melody and powerful lyrics speak to the feeling of being trapped in darkness but still clinging to the hope of finding light. This song has been a source of comfort during my toughest moments, as it reminds me that even when things seem impossible, there is always a way out. These songs, and Billie’s music in general, have become a source of solace and strength for me. They’ve helped me process my own emotions and have inspired me to keep pushing forward, no matter the obstacles. Billie Eilish’s ability to convey such deep emotions through her music is why her songs resonate with me so deeply, and I know her music will continue to be a guiding force as I navigate my own journey.
    Sabrina Carpenter Superfan Scholarship
I’ve been a fan of Sabrina Carpenter ever since she played Maya Hart on *Girl Meets World*. Maya was such a fun, relatable character who really spoke to me when I was younger. She was funny, confident, and had this unique way of handling challenges that made me feel like I wasn’t alone in my struggles. Watching her grow and learn on screen was something that really stuck with me, and I remember feeling like I was growing with her. Maya brought me so much joy, and her character showed me that it’s okay to not have everything figured out and still be yourself. When Sabrina transitioned into music, I started following her career closely, beginning with her first song, *"Can't Blame a Girl for Trying."* That song immediately caught my attention because it felt so real and relatable. Sabrina’s voice and lyrics made me feel like she understood what I was going through at the time. Over the years, I’ve watched her music change and grow as she did. Her newer songs reflect a more mature side of her, but they still have that same emotional depth and honesty that I loved from the beginning. What’s really special is how Sabrina’s music still affects me the same way it did when I first heard *"Can't Blame a Girl for Trying."* Even though she’s evolved as an artist, her music still resonates with me on a deep level. She’s shown me that growing up doesn’t mean losing what made you love something in the first place. It’s about changing and evolving while staying true to who you are, and Sabrina has done that perfectly. Her journey has been a reminder to me that it’s okay to grow and still hold onto the things that matter.
Sikora Drake Women in STEM Scholarship
My name is Keyaira Williams, and I am a proud high school senior passionate about making a meaningful difference in the world. I enjoy baking, writing, reading, listening to music, and spending time with my dog. Writing has always been my favorite creative outlet. I particularly love crafting fantasy stories where characters use their powers to conquer challenges and defeat evil. Baking, on the other hand, began as a pastime I picked up from my aunt during middle school, but it quickly evolved into something I genuinely enjoy. Today, I co-own a small homegrown baking business, Sounds of Sweetness, with my older sister. The name reflects our family's deep ties to music, which has always been a source of comfort and inspiration in our lives. This scholarship would be instrumental in helping me achieve my academic dreams while easing the financial burden on my parents. I plan to pursue a double major in psychology and biology to better prepare for my ideal career as a neurologist. Understanding how the human mind works and how it governs every aspect of our lives is fascinating to me. This career choice also aligns with my desire to help others and contribute to my community. Becoming a neurologist is not just a professional goal for me; it is a calling. I want to dedicate my life to studying the complexities of the brain and using that knowledge to improve the quality of life for others. By diagnosing and treating neurological disorders, I aim to provide solutions to problems that often feel insurmountable for individuals and their families. My hope is to be a source of relief and positivity for those in need. Beyond my career, I aspire to leave the world better than I found it. I am deeply moved by societal challenges such as the housing crisis and hunger. While these issues may seem overwhelming, I firmly believe that incremental changes can lead to transformative outcomes. I want to be remembered not just for my work in medicine but also for my dedication to creating a legacy rooted in empathy and service. This scholarship would allow me to focus wholeheartedly on my education and set the foundation for my future endeavors. Through my studies and eventual career, I hope to inspire others to care for one another and tackle the world's challenges with compassion and determination. Thank you for considering my application and supporting students like me who are eager to make a difference.
    Spaghetti and Butter Scholarship
Going to college as a first-generation student means the world to me—it’s more than just an academic step; it’s a huge milestone for both me and my family. Coming from a background where college wasn’t a given, this journey feels like both a privilege and a powerful responsibility. It’s my chance to build a future that aligns with my dreams, but it’s also a way of honoring the sacrifices, resilience, and hard work that my family has put in to get me here. For my parents, who didn’t have the same educational opportunities, my college journey represents a door they helped me open through their support. They encouraged me to reach higher than they could, to step into new spaces, and to seek out knowledge that wasn’t always accessible to them. College is a huge opportunity, and I feel a responsibility to make the most of it, not just for myself but for them and for everyone in my family who looks up to me. It’s a reminder of how far we’ve come and a promise of what’s possible. Being the first in my family to go to college also means I’m learning a lot as I go—financial aid, applications, and balancing responsibilities all come with a steep learning curve. Without someone in my family who has been through it, I’ve had to learn to be resourceful and independent. I’m discovering how to advocate for myself, ask questions, and reach out for guidance when I need it. Each challenge is teaching me resilience, and I know these skills will carry me far, not just through college but in life. Academically, college is where I’ll finally be able to dive deep into what I’m passionate about. I can’t wait to take classes in subjects like biology and psychology, learning from professors who will challenge and inspire me. Even more, I’m looking forward to meeting classmates from all walks of life who share my excitement for learning. College is a place where I can explore, grow, and figure out who I am and who I want to be. Ultimately, going to college as a first-gen student is about setting a new path for my family and showing others in my community that college isn’t out of reach. I want my journey to inspire younger relatives and community members to believe that they, too, can follow their dreams, no matter where they start. College is more than a personal achievement—it’s a way of making a difference for my family and showing that the door to opportunity is open for all of us. To me, college means stepping into a new world, with challenges and excitement, and a promise to myself and my family to make the most of every single moment.
