Bio

I am an experienced registered nurse in the nursing industry for 13 years, specializing in nursing subspecialties, disaster search and rescue, and military emergency management. I am the acting policy officer and Joint Commission readiness officer at Phoenix Indian Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. I participated in volunteer search and rescue for 28 years. I have built a reputation for disaster relief and emergency management skills. In several disaster zones throughout the United States and worldwide, including Haiti, Nepal, and Puerto Rico, I provided lifesaving assistance to those affected by earthquakes, hurricanes, and other natural disasters. I have also served as the Medical Director for various voluntary disaster response organizations. Besides being involved in disaster relief activities, I am an experienced nurse educator. My experience extends to teaching courses on nursing in the hospital and at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Amongst my many goals, I am particularly interested in helping new nurses acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to provide quality care during emergencies. I participate actively within the nursing community as an association member, too; I belong to Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing, the American Nurses Association, the American Academy of Ambulatory Care Nursing, the American Association for Men in Nursing and the American Organization of Nurse Executives. Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam awarded me the Colonel Aide de Camp in 2014, the highest honor an individual in Tennessee can get.
