I was born in the poor, communist country of Cuba. When I first arrived in the United States I thought, wow, there is so much I can do now. You see, in Cuba no matter how hard one worked, you'd never really reach success in any form due to the structure of that country. Through many losses and occurrences in my life, I have been inspired to work in the healthcare field to help others as I have been helped and help those I couldn't before. I am extremely determined and have shown academic excellence year after year. Though a college education has proved to be financially challenging for someone whose family cannot afford to help. I attended Lone Star College to get the nursing pre-requisite courses done, and I am beyond excited to start the journey towards my bachelor's degree at The University of Texas Medical Branch this August.
