Bio

I am a second-year Physician Assistant student and a mother, pursuing higher education with the goal of creating a more stable and fulfilling future for both myself and my child. Returning to school as a parent has required immense resilience, sacrifice, and determination. Balancing rigorous academic demands with the responsibilities of motherhood has challenged me in ways I never imagined, but it has also strengthened my commitment to this path. I am deeply grateful for the privilege of higher education and the opportunity to work toward a career dedicated to caring for others. However, the financial burden of PA school is significant, and securing additional support through scholarships is essential in helping me continue this journey and fully focus on becoming the best provider, parent, and future clinician I can be.

An impactful physician assistant is someone who listens more than they speak, leads with compassion, and advocates fiercely for their patients. Throughout my clinical rotations, I have worked to embody these qualities and have learned that meaningful care often begins with simply taking the time to listen. I have encountered patients from many different backgrounds, but they all share a common need: to feel heard. When providers take the time to listen to a patient’s story truly, trust is built, communication improves, and the patient-provider relationship becomes stronger. My commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care has been deeply shaped by my experiences outside of the classroom as well. In addition to being a PA student, I am a mother to a child with cognitive dysfunction. Navigating the healthcare system on behalf of my child has required countless appointments with various clinicians, and through these experiences, I have seen firsthand how profoundly a provider’s demeanor can impact a family. Some clinicians demonstrated kindness, patience, and empathy, while others did not. These encounters reinforced for me that technical knowledge alone does not define a good clinician. Compassion, respect, and attentiveness can significantly influence a patient’s experience and outcomes. Balancing the demands of PA school and motherhood has also strengthened my perseverance and time management skills. These qualities are essential in clinical practice, where patient visits do not always proceed as planned. Despite careful scheduling, unexpected concerns often arise that require additional time and attention. Through my training, I have learned that being an impactful PA means communicating openly with patients, acknowledging delays, and showing respect for their time. A sincere apology and honest communication can preserve trust and demonstrate professionalism, even in challenging circumstances. Advocacy is another core attribute of an impactful PA, and it is one I strongly value. Patients are often vulnerable and may not always be able to advocate for themselves. As a future PA, I believe it is my responsibility to stand up for my patients and do everything within my scope to help them access the care, resources, and support they need. My experiences as both a student and a parent have strengthened my resolve to advocate for patients, ensuring they feel supported, informed, and empowered throughout their care. Ultimately, these qualities are ones I strive to embody as I grow into the PA I hope to become. My goal is for patients to leave each encounter feeling respected, heard, and cared for. While I may not always have immediate answers, I want my patients to trust that I am committed to finding those answers and providing the highest quality care possible. Through compassion, advocacy, and perseverance, I hope to make a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of my patients.
