Jeanne Kramme Fouke Scholarship for Future Teachers
. For me, teaching is not just a career, but a passion. As far as I can remember, I have always been fascinated with the idea of teaching and being a source of knowledge for others. My interest in teaching began when I was in high school, where I volunteered as a tutor for younger students in my neighborhood. This experience showed me the impact a teacher can have on a student's life, and I realized that I wanted to make a difference in the lives of others through education.
Growing up, I always had teachers who made learning enjoyable and interactive. They went above and beyond to make sure each student understood the material and instilled a sense of curiosity and love for learning in all of us. These teachers served as role models for me, and I knew I wanted to be like them. They helped me realize my potential and pushed me to excel academically, and I want to do the same for my future students. I strongly believe that teaching is a noble and fulfilling profession that allows us to shape the minds of the next generation.
As I delved deeper into my education, my interest in teaching only grew stronger. I have always been drawn to the field of English and literature, and I knew that I wanted to teach these subjects to students. I believe that literature is a fundamental part of our existence, and it teaches us about human experiences and perspectives. By teaching literature, I hope to introduce students to diverse ideas and cultures, and help them develop critical thinking and analytical skills.
Moreover, I am also passionate about making learning more interactive and relatable for students. As a student myself, I understand that traditional methods of teaching can sometimes be monotonous and unengaging. Hence, I am constantly exploring new and innovative ways to make learning fun and exciting for my future students. I strongly believe that when students are actively engaged in their learning, they are more likely to retain information and apply it in real-life situations. This is why I want to incorporate hands-on activities, discussions, and technology in my teaching practices.
Aside from my passion for teaching, I have also acquired the necessary skills and experiences to excel in this profession. In college, I have taken various education and psychology courses to understand the principles of teaching and learning. I have also completed a teaching internship, where I had the opportunity to design and deliver lessons, assess student progress, and collaborate with other teachers. This experience further solidified my desire to become a teacher and helped me understand the responsibilities and challenges that come with this profession.
In conclusion, my experiences and passion have led me to pursue a career in teaching. I am drawn to this profession because I believe that education is the key to personal and societal growth, and I want to be a part of shaping young minds and making a positive impact in the world. I am excited about the prospect of helping students learn, grow, and reach their full potential. I am committed to continuously improving my teaching methods and making a difference in the lives of my future students.

Margaret J. Davis Scholarship
Being a single mom in college has been a challenging and often overwhelming experience. Balancing the responsibilities of motherhood with the demands of coursework and assignments can be a daunting task. One of the biggest challenges I faced as a single mom in college was managing my time effectively. With the added responsibility of caring for my child, finding time to study and attend classes became a struggle. I had to wake up earlier and stay up later in order to complete my assignments and prepare for exams. In addition, I had to constantly rearrange my schedule to accommodate my child's needs and activities. This often resulted in missed classes or unfinished assignments, which added to my stress and guilt.
Financial struggles have also been a significant hurdle for me as a single mom in college. Raising a child on my own means having to support not only myself but also my child's needs. The added expenses of childcare, health insurance, and groceries put a strain on my budget and left me with very little money for textbooks or other necessary school supplies. I have had to work multiple part-time jobs in order to make ends meet, adding an extra layer of stress and exhaustion to my already busy life.
Despite these challenges, being a single mom in college has also been a transformative journey for me. As I have navigated through the hurdles and obstacles, I have discovered my passion for education. Seeing my child grow and learn has shown me the impact that teachers have on shaping young minds. I have also experienced firsthand the challenges and rewards of being a parent and the importance of having caring and dedicated educators in my child's life. This has fueled my passion for my chosen career path of becoming an elementary school teacher.
Through my college studies, I have learned the importance of resilience, time management, and determination. I have had to push myself to keep going even when it seemed overwhelming and impossible. I have learned to prioritize and organize my time efficiently in order to balance my responsibilities as a mother and a student. These skills will not only benefit me in my academic pursuits but also in my future career as an educator.
My long-term goals for my career are to make a positive impact on the lives of young students and their families. I hope to create a welcoming and inclusive learning environment where students feel safe and supported. I also want to be an advocate for students and their needs, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to succeed. In the long term, I hope to inspire a love for learning in my students and empower them to reach their full potential.
Being a single mom in college has its challenges, but it has also taught me valuable lessons and shaped my determination to pursue a fulfilling career in education. I am grateful for the support and encouragement of my family, friends, and professors who have helped me on this journey. I am determined to continue working hard and set an example for my child that anything is possible with determination and perseverance.
