I've grown up where I had to do everything on my own, with maybe a little bit of help from people who support me. Most of the time I haven't been able to have help because I am the first. I am the first girl my parents had, the first and only granddaughter for some of my grandparents, and I am the first to go to college. I always knew I wanted to go to college, even before I knew what I wanted to be. I love learning and know that college was the place I would be able to learn. Some people think that I am silly for going to college, especially since my dream job, doesn't require me to go to college, but I want to learn. Knowing things will help make my future career easier. For my dream career, I want to be a writer, I want to create a story that people find comfort in. Knowing lots of things makes writing my stories easier because I like to be super detailed in my story. I like for each of my characters to have a background story that I know, that leads up exactly to where they are now. I also like to have a lot of diversity and talk about things most people don't like to talk about. Knowing a lot about those topics will make it easier. I feel like only a couple of things stand between me and my future career as an author. Writer's block, and myself. There isn't much that I can do about writer's block, other than to try and power through the struggle of writing. For myself, however, there are so many things I can do. When I write I constantly overthink and delete because I don't think my ideas are good. If I tried not to worry about if they are good and just write, that later I can go back and make them great. I want a lot of things in life, I have a lot of dreams. Sometimes I think my dreams are too ambitious for someone that comes from my life situation, but I will try, even if I fail.

A social issue that I think is important to address and understand would be equality. On social media, I try to show people that everyone deserves the right to be happy, and everyone deserves to be equal. I think it's important for people to understand that no one should be excluded for who they are as a person, they should be welcomed. I want to be able to actively address and support this in my writing. I am a first-generation college student that is going to college in hopes of becoming a writer. I have always wanted to write and create a story that people want to write themselves into and live in. I feel like becoming a writer is the perfect way to be able to address social issues. Not only would I be able to create a story that people enjoy, but they also will be able to see how social issues affect people. Of course, I can only write about issues that I have experienced first-hand, but I hope that in the future I will be able to also write about topics other people have provided information on.

Have you ever read a book that you loved so much that you wanted to be in that world? I will be the first to admit that I have, and it has happened more than once. I learned to love writing through my love for reading. The first book I read, was the BFG, and I loved it so much it that it was the foundation of my dreams to become a writer. The BFG was the book that started my reading. I read and read and read, and I loved each story more than the last. I read these big books like Harry Potter and Narnia, that had fans wanting to write themselves in. I want to write a story that people are excited about when they see a TV series or movie coming out about it. They want to write themselves into a story, to become a part of something that I loved and created. I feel like something has to mean a lot to you, for you to want to write yourself into the story. My main goal in my potential writing career is to write a story that comforts people. One that they find peace in and want to go back to in fifteen years. That is why writing is important to me. I have multiple stories that I continuously go back to that comfort me. These characters and stories are developed in a way that makes people connect to them, love them, and want to read the same story over and over again. I want to be someone's comfort author. That is my goal in life, and I will be working towards it until it comes true.

A book that transformed my life would be The BFG by Roald Dahl, it kept me out of trouble, made me develop a new passion, and ultimately made my future clear. When I was in third grade I got in trouble a lot during school. I learned topics a lot quicker than other students and when I understood a topic I would get bored when we continued learning about that topic for weeks. Eventually, I got caught painting my nails instead of listening and my parents were called. As punishment, my dad told me to read The BFG. At the time, reading was the last thing I wanted to do when I was bored, but I listened to him and when I got bored in class I read The BFG. At first, I was hesitant, but when I started reading the book I realized that I enjoyed it. My dad often asked me questions about the book to make sure I was reading it. I remember him asking me what The BFG collects, at the time I hadn't read to that point in the story yet. Since I didn't know the answer to his question my dad didn't believe that I was reading the book. When I did find out what The BFG collected, I remember almost jumping out of my seat in excitement. I ran home that day and excitedly told my dad that he collected dreams. At this point in my life, I never got excited over a book. Books, at the time, were boring, just words on a page. After, that moment books became a lifeline in my life. Reading The BFG in third grade made me realize that I enjoyed reading. I could completely immerse myself in another world that could have possibly been completely different than mine. I didn't have to worry about a giant snatching me from my bed at night or being eaten by a said giant, thankfully. I wasn't able to physically catch dreams in a jar and crazy strange words weren't in my everyday vocabulary, unfortunately. Reading this one book sparked my love for books. After, that day I continued reading more and more books. Reading The BFG impacted my life so much that it made me realize that I wanted to be a writer. I wanted to create a book that inspired people to read. I wanted to create my own BFG. A world that I created that people were so fascinated by and filled with excitement with every page turn. I never knew that reading one book could inspire me to write my own. When I was in third grade I thought reading was the worst thing anyone could think of doing, but after reading The BFG I realized that reading is more than just looking at words on a page. Reading is important and something that everyone should do because the things your brain can come up with and the places books can take you are amazing.
