      Second Chance Youth Scholarship
A “second chance” to me means more than just starting over—it means proving that your past does not define your future. It means taking responsibility for your mistakes, learning from them, and choosing a better path even when it’s difficult. Growing up, I experienced firsthand how quickly life can change when poor decisions and circumstances collide. Being exposed to the justice system at a young age, whether directly or through family, forced me to mature faster than most and see realities that many people my age never have to face. These experiences shaped me in ways that were both challenging and transformative. Instead of letting them harden me or push me further down the wrong path, I used them as motivation. I learned accountability, resilience, and the importance of discipline. I realized that every decision I make has consequences—not just for me, but for the people around me. Watching how the justice system impacted my family opened my eyes to how easily a lack of guidance and opportunity can lead someone down the wrong road. That realization became a turning point in my life. Since then, I have taken intentional steps toward positive change. I focused on building a future rooted in purpose and growth. I enrolled in automotive technology training because I’ve always had a passion for cars and hands-on work. Being in this field has given me structure, direction, and a goal to work toward. It’s not just about fixing vehicles—it’s about building something meaningful for myself and my future. I’ve also worked on developing discipline, improving my mindset, and surrounding myself with better influences. Beyond education, I’ve started building my own business and learning how to create opportunities instead of waiting for them. I understand now that success doesn’t come overnight—it’s built through consistency, hard work, and staying focused even when things get tough. A second chance isn’t just given; it’s earned every day through actions. If I am awarded this scholarship, I would use the funds to support my education and career development in the automotive industry. This includes tools, certifications, and expenses related to my training. Having access to the right resources will allow me to fully focus on my studies and continue progressing toward becoming a skilled technician. It would also ease financial stress, allowing me to stay committed to my goals without distractions. Looking ahead, my goal is to establish a stable and successful career in automotive technology while continuing to grow my business ventures. I want to create a life where I am not only financially stable but also able to provide for my family and be an example of what change looks like. Long term, I want to open my own shop or service where I can combine my skills, business knowledge, and passion into something impactful. Most importantly, I want to “pay it forward.” I want to mentor young people who may be going through similar challenges—those who feel like their past mistakes define them or that they don’t have a way out. I want to show them that change is possible, that their story isn’t over, and that they can build something better for themselves. Whether it’s through mentorship, sharing my story, or creating opportunities, I want to be someone who helps others find their second chance. A second chance is not just about where you’ve been—it’s about where you’re willing to go. And I am committed to moving forward.
      Students Impacted by Incarceration Scholarship
My mom’s incarceration for SBA fraud had a major impact on my life and forced me to grow up faster than most people my age. When it happened, everything changed—emotionally, financially, and mentally. There was confusion, pain, and a lot of uncertainty about the future. Watching someone you love go through something like that is not easy, and it made me realize how quickly life can shift based on the decisions we make. At the same time, this experience taught me some of the most important lessons I’ve ever learned. I learned the value of accountability and how important it is to make honest, responsible choices. I saw firsthand how one mistake can affect not just one person, but an entire family. Instead of letting that situation define me in a negative way, I chose to let it shape me into someone stronger and more focused. I had to step up in ways I wasn’t expecting. I learned how to handle responsibilities, stay disciplined, and keep pushing forward even when things felt heavy. It gave me a different mindset—one where I don’t take opportunities for granted and where I understand the importance of building something stable for myself and my future family. This experience has also influenced my academic and career goals. I am currently pursuing a path in automotive technology because I want a hands-on, reliable career where I can build skills that will always be valuable. I enjoy working on cars, solving problems, and learning how systems work. It gives me a sense of control and purpose—something that became very important to me after everything I went through. My goal is not just to succeed for myself, but to break negative cycles and create a better future. I want to be someone my family can depend on and someone who proves that your circumstances do not determine your outcome. My mom’s situation taught me what not to do, but it also gave me the motivation to do better, stay focused, and move forward with integrity. In the end, this experience didn’t break me—it built me. It gave me strength, perspective, and a clear direction for my life. I am determined to turn a difficult chapter into a foundation for success.
Scott A. Ross Memorial Automotive Scholarship
What drove me to pursue a career in the automotive field was a combination of passion, responsibility, and the desire to build a stable future for my family. I have always been interested in how things work, especially vehicles, and that curiosity naturally led me toward automotive technology. Over time, that interest grew into something more meaningful as I realized this field offers both hands-on problem-solving and the opportunity to create real impact in people’s daily lives. As a father of four, my motivation is deeper than just personal success. I am driven by the responsibility to provide, grow, and create long-term stability for my family. The automotive field allows me to build a skill that is always in demand while also giving me the opportunity to expand into entrepreneurship in the future. I want to not only become a highly skilled technician but also build services that can help others in my community. My journey has not been without challenges. One of the biggest obstacles I have faced is balancing financial responsibilities while pursuing my education. Supporting a family while attending school requires discipline, sacrifice, and constant focus. There have been times where I had to manage expenses carefully, prioritize immediate needs, and still stay committed to my long-term goals. This has tested my ability to stay consistent and continue moving forward, even when things are difficult. While I have not faced a major medical condition, I have experienced the physical and mental demands that come with balancing work, school, and family life. Managing stress, staying organized, and maintaining focus have been essential in overcoming these challenges. I have learned how to adapt, remain disciplined, and continue pushing forward regardless of circumstances. These experiences have strengthened my resilience and shaped my mindset. I have learned that success is not about avoiding challenges, but about how you respond to them. Every obstacle has pushed me to become more focused, more responsible, and more determined to succeed. I have developed strong time management skills, a disciplined work ethic, and the ability to stay committed even when the path is not easy. What continues to drive me is the vision of what I am building. I am not just pursuing a career; I am building a foundation for my family and creating opportunities for the future. The automotive industry excites me because it is constantly evolving, and it challenges me to keep learning and improving. I am committed to growing in this field, gaining advanced skills, and eventually expanding into business ownership where I can create a lasting impact. Overall, my journey has been shaped by responsibility, resilience, and a clear sense of purpose. The challenges I have faced have not held me back—they have pushed me forward. I am committed to continuing my education, developing my skills, and building a career that allows me to provide for my family and contribute positively to the community around me.
Rob Novak Memorial Automotive Technology Scholarship
I chose to pursue a career in the automotive technology industry because I am passionate about hands-on work, problem-solving, and building a skill that creates real impact in people’s lives. Vehicles are essential to everyday life, and being able to diagnose issues, repair them, and keep people moving is something I find both meaningful and rewarding. I enjoy the challenge of understanding how different systems work together and continuously learning as technology evolves, especially with modern vehicles becoming more advanced. What I enjoy most about this field is that it combines technical knowledge with real-world application. Every situation is different, and it requires critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to adapt. It is a career where growth never stops, and that motivates me to keep improving my skills. This scholarship would support me by helping reduce the financial burden of tuition, tools, and daily expenses while I continue my training. As a father, I am balancing education with providing for my family, so this support would allow me to focus more on developing my skills and completing my program successfully. It would help me stay consistent, invest in the resources I need, and continue working toward building a stable career and future for my family.
