One day I was walking down the street and depressed about life. And, I heard someone say, “hold your head up”. I didn’t know who said it, but when I did I saw a Cessna. At the time I didn’t know it was that. I just saw a plane, I didn’t really pay attention to it, or so I thought. When I got home I saw a program on WWII, and the Tuskegee Airmen were on it and their contribution to America. I applied to Fox Valley Technical College. Then, came the reality, that this is hard! From the basic class work to endeavoring to FLYING an airplane. The long hours of training after I came home from work. Just exhausted. Still, I know that this is what I must do… to be an Aviator. It’s my passion! I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! Quitting isn’t an option! I take on odd jobs for this most important and expensive passion that bit me in my soul. I even have friends and relatives looking at airplanes differently. They say, they think of me when they see a plane. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY.

In 2023, of August I was diagnosed with Kidney Prenchyma stemming from passing a second kidney stone. My family had just suffered losing my aunt from breast cancer, that was so invasive it ate her alive. The family struggled with the funeral. And, now I was informed that I have this disease. I didn’t want to tell anyone, because I didn’t want to put them through any depressing state that they’ve just endured. So, I went to my doctor appointments alone. Being a 40-year old man, I figured I could do this by myself. I had moments of weakness, where I just went somewhere alone. I took ibuprofen for the pain while I waited for the surgery. I worked 3rd shift in a warehouse and took Aviation classes when I got off. Tiredness became my best friend, my grades slipped a little bit. However, I am determined to accomplish what I set out to do, cancer or not. My doctor informed me that, we would preform a partial nephrectomy to remove the mass. Because, of multiple kidney stones that I possessed, the cancerous cells were discovered. As my doctor described it, it was “an accidental found.” I marvel at people who have been diagnosed with cancer and have their entire family, friends and community blessed them with undying support. And, here I am going through this ordeal solo. It changes one’s prospective on life. School allowed me to be detracted from this deadly virus that’s my body. I applied to Fox Valley Technical College in Oshkosh, and was surprised that I was excepted. Then, came the reality, that this is hard! From the basic class work to endeavoring to FLYING an airplane. Not to mention, the point of getting into the cockpit, with getting my Medical (2nd Class) The long hours of training after I came home from work. Just exhausted. Still, I know that this is what I must do… to be an Aviator. I like to think that I’ve watched all movies, shows on aviation. Even my family celebrate what I’m doing, they might not be so quick to fly with me, but it’s not for them. It’s my passion! I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! I am living proof, despite what you go through, anything is possible… As it stands now, I’m not even halfway through just my basic training. Quitting isn’t an option, so I’m taking on odd jobs for this most important and expensive passion that bit me in my soul. It takes up so much of my thinking energy. Every Pratt & Whitney, turboprop or jet engine that flies overhead; I’m forced to look ‘hold my head up’. I even have friends and relatives looking at airplanes differently. They say, they think of me when they see a plane flying. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. I still wish I could have joined the military only to be in the Airforce, however, my age is beyond the recruitment. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY. On 22.February the surgery was a success and I have been in remission since then. I’m still in school, but I struggle with my tuition. If granted this scholarship, I would be able to share my experience on a broader scale…

In 2023, of August I was diagnosed with Kidney Prenchyma stemming from passing a second kidney stone. Because, of multiple kidney stones that I possessed, the cancerous cells were discovered. As my doctor described it, it was “an accidental found.” I marvel at people who have been diagnosed with cancer and have their entire family, friends and community blessed them with undying support.

One day I was walking down the street and depressed about life. And, I heard someone say, “hold your head up”. I didn’t know who said it, but when I did I saw a Cessna. At the time I didn’t know it was that. I just saw a plane, I didn’t really pay attention to it, or so I thought. A couple of years go by, I’m in and out of trouble. One day, I’m at a doctor’s appointment and on the table were this magazine of airplanes. As I was thumbing through the magazine, I thought, ‘that’s different’. Still not thinking much about it. When I got home I saw a program on WWII, and the Tuskegee Airmen were on it and their contribution to America. That was it! I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! As it stands now, I’m even halfway through just my basic training. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. I still wish I could have joined the military only to be in the Airforce, however, my age is beyond the recruitment. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY.

I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! As it stands now, I’m even halfway through just my basic training. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. I still wish I could have joined the military only to be in the Airforce, however, my age is beyond the recruitment. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY.

Still, I know that this is what I must do… to be an Aviator. I like to think that I’ve watched all movies, shows on aviation. Even my family celebrate what I’m doing, they might not be so quick to fly with me, but it’s not for them. I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! As it stands now, I’m even halfway through just my basic training. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. I still wish I could have joined the military only to be in the Airforce, however, my age is beyond the recruitment. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY.

I wish to show the disenfranchised, minorities, and older people that you can do whatever it is that you want to do. All it takes is a little bit of patience, and perseverance. Anything is possible! As it stands now, I’m even halfway through just my basic training. Aviation went from a dream to becoming a way of life for me. I still wish I could have joined the military only to be in the Airforce, however, my age is beyond the recruitment. So, I’m at peace with being part of the General Aviation Community, just as long as I can FLY.

Building credit early allows you to make it a reflex, so you get your spending out of control. I wish to use my high credit score as means to invest in things that comes with being restricted from having a not so positive credit score. The smartest money move, I’ve made was investing in my future by paying for more flight lessons. It has always been a passion of mine to fly airplanes. So, I gotten myself admitted to college for aviation. One day I was walking down the street and depressed about life. And, I heard someone say, “hold your head up”.
