My name is Kenneth Jewell, and I’m a senior at Beaver Falls High School. I’m the captain of the varsity football team, and being part of the team has taught me so much about leadership, responsibility, and working together toward a common goal. Football has shown me that success doesn’t come from talent alone — it comes from hard work, preparation, and showing up for the people counting on you. I’ve tried to take that mindset into every part of my life, both on and off the field.
In school, I’ve discovered that I’m most drawn to classes that let me work with my hands. Courses that focused on industrial materials, like woodshop and electrical work, really caught my attention. I found myself looking forward to those projects more than traditional academic classes because I enjoyed seeing tangible results from my efforts. There’s something satisfying about taking raw materials and turning them into something functional, useful, or even beautiful. It made me realize that I’m someone who learns best by doing, by experiencing, and by building things that people can see and use.
After graduation, I plan to attend trade school to study construction and carpentry. I’m really excited about getting real, hands-on experience that I can apply in the real world. I like that construction requires careful planning, patience, and attention to detail. When a project is completed, it’s something functional, beautiful, and valuable to the people who use it. That idea of leaving a real mark on the world through the work I do is very motivating to me.
In the next five years, I hope to work for a company that values hard work and produces high-quality results. I want to learn from experienced tradespeople, continue building my skills, and take on projects that challenge me while allowing me to contribute something meaningful. My goal is to grow into a professional who can be relied on to do excellent work, solve problems, and approach each project with both creativity and practicality.
I’m excited about a career where I can keep learning, keep building, and keep creating things that matter. For me, the combination of hands-on work, planning, and seeing the final product come together is what makes construction and carpentry a perfect fit. I know that with dedication and a willingness to learn, I can turn my passion for building into a rewarding career that makes a real difference in people’s lives.
