Bio

My goal in life is to become an anesthesiologist and mentor others along the way. I am majoring in Chemistry and minoring in Biology. Currently, I’m fortunate to be guided by a mentor who is an anesthesiologist, her commitment to passing on her knowledge has inspired me to do the same. I believe education is essential, and I’m passionate about being a role model not only within and outside of my family. Helping others is at the core of who I am, which is why volunteering is so important to me. I come from a large, close-knit family that believes in giving back. My parents have always taught me through their actions. to be kind, respectful, and involved in our community. In my free time, I love watching sports with my dad (especially when we’re rooting for rival teams), visiting the Museum of Science and Industry, listening to music, and spending quality time with my mom, working on puzzles and sharing long conversations. Travel Softball and high school softball have been a major part of my life. I currently volunteer with other scholars in my program in college. In my household, the phrase “I can’t” doesn’t exist. I’ve always envisioned success, no matter the odds. Life has taught me that challenges are inevitable, but with the right mindset, you can overcome and conquer anything. My ultimate goal is to keep learning, keep growing, and make a meaningful difference in my life while inspiring others. Currently, my freshman year in college is going great. I am loving school. Maintaining my GPA (Currently 3.5) and living a life that will make my family proud.

My career path became evident during a period of personal reflection when I witnessed my mother’s battle with cancer, which illuminated my future career path. As I watched her anesthesiologist play a pivotal role in not only managing her pain but also offering immense emotional support, I knew what I was destined to do. Throughout my academic career, I will work my way through undergrad and medical school to become an anesthesiologist. Through my work, I will ensure that other patients receive exceptional care under my watch while also being culturally competent to address the needs of women. A critical global issue that I’m passionate about addressing is the underrepresentation of Black women in anesthesiology. As I progress in my journey, I plan to mentor and support other women aspiring to enter this sector, providing the guidance, encouragement, and resources needed to help them succeed.
