Within my rural community, the toughest challenge I’ve had to overcome is the strain of a demanding schedule. During my high school career, I’ve consistently enrolled in the most rigorous curriculum offered at Union City. This includes various weighted courses, dual enrollment, and advanced core classes, resulting in a heavy course load. On top of that, I am a three-sport varsity athlete, I apply myself in several school clubs, and I volunteer my time to help my community whenever possible. My current schedule requires me to be strategic while planning. Otherwise, I find myself overwhelmed and burnt out. I’ve adapted to and overcome this stress by managing my time efficiently and taking advantage of “off” days. If I am struggling with a subject, I don’t hesitate to reach out for support. I am aware of my limits because I repeatedly push them every day. I am grateful that I have endeavored such challenges at this stage of my life. I have developed effective stress and time management skills, which will undoubtedly enhance my education and assist in professional advancement. I will have an advantage because I know what it takes to be successful under pressure. In times of overwhelming stress, it is tempting to take a shortcut to avoid high-pressure situations. Yet, I remain persistent and determined to take on all obstacles head-on. Looking ahead, I aspire to become a successful accountant. With that comes the strenuous burden of tax season. This aspect causes many to shy away from this career field. However, I am confident that I will have the skills and perseverance necessary to succeed. An accounting career checks all the boxes regarding job stability, career outlook, and job opportunities. Accountants are essential for running any successful business. As the business industry continues to grow, I strive to live comfortably without the stress of searching for a job or the possibility of being laid off. More importantly, I want to become an accountant because I thrive on intellectual challenges. I possess proficient problem-solving and critical thinking skills, which will enable me to advance within my career field. The room for advancement in the accounting field appeals to me because it provides a sense of purpose and offers new challenges to face. By acquiring my CPA license, I will stand out among other accountants. I aim to have a fulfilling life when it comes to my profession. As the second college-bound sibling in my household, I would greatly benefit from this scholarship. Both of my parents are still paying off their student loans, so I aim to be financially independent. Covering the cost of college without requesting help from my family. Furthering my education without feeling like a burden to my parents is a dream of mine. However, doing this without accumulating significant student debt is a difficult undertaking. Scholarships are essential to achieving a debt-free future. I plan to work hard on scholarships before starting my first semester to get ahead, and to continue this hard work throughout my college years by working on campus and continuing to save money. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to focus on my education and future, rather than my financial struggles.
