Bio

Hello! My name is Kendle, and I’m currently a senior dual-enrollment student at the Academy of Health and Science. I plan to major in either biomedical science or biochemistry in college, intending to become a cosmetic dermatologist and eventually open my own practice. I'm actively involved in several extracurriculars that reflect both my leadership and dedication to service. Through PeerForward, I mentor peers through the college application process, helping make the transition to higher education less intimidating. I serve on the Advisory Board, our student-led event planning committee, and I’m also a member of the Red Cross Club, where I’ll soon be stepping into the role of social media manager for the 2025–2026 school year. One of the most important lessons I’ve learned on my journey is the value of self-compassion. I’ve overcome the pressure of comparing myself to others by recognizing that ambition is healthy, but it should never come at the cost of self-worth. We all walk our own unique paths, and learning to trust mine has made me stronger. If awarded a scholarship, I would use the funds to support my education, covering tuition, room and board, school supplies, and other essential expenses as I work toward my future in healthcare.

For most of my high school journey, I wasn't allowed to participate in extracurricular activities. My mom, though well-meaning, believed they were a distraction from my academics and a waste of time. But as someone who deeply values connections, leadership, and giving back to the community, it was frustrating to feel limited in how I could engage with my school community. I often watched from the sidelines as other students got involved while I stayed strictly focused on my academics. It wasn't until my junior year, thanks to my persistent counselor, that my mom finally agreed to let me join a few clubs. This decision changed everything. In my junior year, I was accepted into PeerForward, a college access and peer mentorship program. Through PeerForward, I get to help other students become acclimated to the college application process, especially those who are first-generation or just overwhelmed about this significant transition in their lives. We work to make college feel possible, accessible, and less intimidating. Being able to guide peers towards opportunities and show them they aren't alone in the process has been one of the most meaningful parts of my high school experience. I also joined the Advisory Board, essentially a student-run event planning committee. This has allowed me to have a hand in building school spirit and creating unforgettable memories, fostering connections and joy amongst our student body. Whether planning a spirit week or organizing Rising Senior Week. I've found that these moments, though they may seem small, play a huge role in strengthening our school culture. Additionally, I joined the Red Cross Club and played a key role in organizing and running the annual Halloween Blood Drive. It’s an amazing experience when you actively participate in events that can flip someone's day around just through a selfless act, such as donating blood, putting together a care package, or donating school supplies. I'll soon be taking on more responsibility as both the social media manager and Historian for the 2025-2026 school year. I hope to use my position to raise awareness about future drives and opportunities to give back to the community. I'm passionate about extracurriculars because they've given me a sense of purpose and belonging that I didn't know I was missing. These activities don't just help me grow; they directly benefit my school and community. Through PeerForward, I help simplify the transition from high school to college. That kind of support makes seeking higher education less daunting. On the Advisory Board, the events we plan, from pep rallies to school spirit days, create a stronger, more connected student body. They give students something to enjoy and look forward to, which is important when it comes to mental health and reducing stress. Lastly, through the Red Cross Club, I help promote life-saving blood drives along with other impactful initiatives that spread awareness and benefit the community. For so long, I was told groups such as these weren't worth it, but being involved has proven the opposite. These activities have allowed me to connect with others, lead with intention, and make a meaningful impact in my school community. They've shown me what I'm capable of when I step outside of my comfort zone, and they've helped me find my voice. Not just as a student, but as someone who wants to inspire and uplift others, every meeting, every event, every moment of service reminds me that learning doesn't stop at the classroom door. The best kind of growth happens when we show up for something bigger than ourselves.
