In the summer of 2021, the only parent I ever truly known, my mother, was loss due to domestic violence. She was my everything and now that she was no longer here I felt like I had nothing. I was like Simba from the Lion King; lost and misguided. I went from an out spoken and optimistic person to a quiet, reserved, and depressed person. My mental health was not nowhere where it needed to be, and my motivation to attend school and participate in any extracurriculars was at a all time low. I was nervous to talk to people because I was in a whole new school where I knew no one. The first 2 months was rough but it eventually turned into something I will take with me and remember for the rest of my life. I also awoken the urge and drive to be successful. My godmother, who I was staying with at the time, stepped in when she heard about my situation and over time helped me with my transition. She got me in the back on the path of an A-Honor roll student and motivated me to get back into my favorite extracurricular that I participated in, cheerleading, at my old school. I was taught by her and learned the lesson of that I write my own story, I can change the trajectory of my life and live the life I want, and I don't have to let the past hold me down. I say to myself everyday since then I will be successful, I will make my mommy proud! Soon I became apart of the National Honor Society, Varsity Cheerleading captain, student council, got nominated to attend American Legion Auxiliary Girl's State camp and leadership conference, and this year, my senior year, was chosen to be my schools, South Oak Cliff's Miss Senior during homecoming. All those achievements are swell but my main goal was to go to college. Since I was a little girl I always wanted to be successful and make my mom proud. I am going to Midwestern State University, located in Wichita Falls, Texas and study Radiologic Sciences and after I graduate become Radiology Technician. My main goal of my career is to ensure that all patients get equal treatment regardless of their background. At the end of the day, what I achieve in high school in this day in age its not all about me or about making my mom proud, even though that is a big part of it. I want to pass on my knowledge and help girls to aspire to succeed. I am currently doing the things I do for all the girls just like me at my high school. Whenever I can, I am giving a helping hand to my younger peers, like an older sister. Whenever a younger girl needs to talk I am all ears because I know what it is like to not be heard or feel like you have no one to lean on and I also show them that you don't have to live in a bad limelight because of your past. I encourage the girls I come across to find a girl you don't ever talk to and just give some of your time. Even if they can't do that a simple, "Hey, how are you," can change the trajectory of someone's day. In my opinion, if I cannot pass on and help other girls succeed then I have not succeeded myself.

Passion is a powerful driving force that motivates a person to pursue any goal and excel in that very goal. Some career fields require more passion than others and the desire to help individuals. My plan is to attend Midwestern State University, located in Wichita Falls, Texas and study Radiologic Sciences and after I graduate become Radiology Technician. Although my goal is to become a Radiology Technician, my main passion of my career is to give the most absolute supreme care to patients regardless of their background. In my opinion, when it comes to being a Rad Tech passion plays a significant role in shaping your mindset, attitude, and dedication that is needed to to succeed in ensuring patients get the best care possible. I have several ideals and promises to myself and to whoever I encounter in the future to pursue my passion. In this career field my promise will be to always communicate with my patient ensuring that they feel the most absolute comfort. A good deal of patients are already nervous as it is about coming to healthcare areas so, just making it a slightly better for them makes all the difference. In my personal experience as a child hospitals, more specifically, the X-ray department can be overwhelming with all the different machines and knowing that radiation is involved can scare a child or anyone not knowing the science behind those X-rays. Another reason why I am passionate about this career field is learning along the way. One thing about me is I absolutely love learning new things! Whenever I learn something new it brings a confidence boost and somewhat self esteem boost. Also I can share and inspire my patients and peers to have a positive attitude through life and through healthcare. Another promise I would carry out to my fellow patients to successfully give them the best possible care as possible is to always handle my work or assistance with empathy and respect. Most of the time we as humans we become selfish and forget that other people have feelings too. Something that is offensive or new to someone else/your patient may not be to you but you have to always take into account that you are two different people so you have to be selfless and accommodate to them to the best of your ability. By me doing these things I will fuel my passion and my goal of giving patients the best care possible regardless of background and change the narrative. The last thing is I'm aware of is sometimes in the healthcare field you have to sometimes come in on your days off and for some people that can be quite irritating, but for me coming in to help at least one person makes it worth it for me. If that should occur the main reminder and message that I would take into account is , "We are not doing this for us we are doing this for them, you never know by you doing this that you can change their life for the better!" In conclusion, my passion is to ensure that any patients get the best care available and possible regardless of their background.
