I’m a dedicated Social Work major and student-athlete at Lincoln University of Missouri. Originally from Ghana, I carry with me a deep commitment to service, community, and leadership. I currently maintain a 3.8 GPA while balancing academics, athletics, and active involvement in campus organizations such as the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and the School of Social Work’s student advisory group.
My career goal is to become a licensed social worker who empowers individuals and communities, especially those facing marginalization. I want to be remembered as a helper and a change maker, someone who uses knowledge, compassion, and action to create meaningful impact.

WinnerSocial work is more than a career choice for me. It is a purpose shaped by my values, experiences, and desire to help others feel seen, safe, and supported. I am passionate about social work because I believe people deserve compassion during their most vulnerable moments, and I want to be someone who shows up when it matters most.
I have always been drawn to helping roles because I grew up understanding the importance of community and responsibility toward others. I learned early on that silence often protects harm, while support and advocacy create change. This belief is what led me to pursue social work and continues to motivate me as I work toward becoming a professional who not only listens, but takes action.
One issue I am especially committed to addressing through my social work career is sexual violence. Sexual violence is a reality that affects people across all backgrounds, yet survivors are often left feeling unheard or blamed when they seek help. Through my coursework, campus training, and conversations with peers, I have seen how fear, stigma, and power dynamics make it difficult for survivors to speak up. These experiences have strengthened my desire to be an advocate who prioritizes empathy, accountability, and healing.
As a future social worker, I want to be involved in both prevention and survivor support. I plan to work with young adults and student populations to promote conversations around consent, healthy relationships, and respect. I believe education plays a powerful role in preventing harm before it happens. I also want to support survivors directly by helping them access counseling, legal resources, and safe spaces where they can begin to heal without judgment.
My long-term goal is to work in environments where I can help create safer systems whether in schools, athletic programs, or community organizations by advocating for policies that protect individuals rather than silence them. I want to be the kind of social worker who challenges harmful norms and stands with survivors, even when it is uncomfortable.
I am deeply committed to my education and personal growth because I understand the responsibility that comes with this profession. I strive to reflect the values of integrity, empathy, and accountability in everything I do. Receiving this scholarship would allow me to continue my education with greater focus and stability, bringing me closer to a career dedicated to service and change.
At the heart of my goals is a simple truth, I want to help people feel less alone. Through social work, I hope to make a difference by turning compassion into action and ensuring that those impacted by sexual violence are supported, believed, and empowered.
