My name is Kelly, an Asian American undergraduate student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in forensic science at Penn State University. I have always been a dedicated student, maintaining A’s in almost all my classes since I started my education. I am currently a second year student with a 3.5 GPA and planning to join research opportunities as my knowledge expands. I have had my major decided since I was around eight years old, when I would sit on my living room floor every Wednesday night at 8:00 to watch the hit crime drama, Bones. The thrill of solving a mystery and the relief of providing justice to families is something I have always been in awe of, and I knew that forensic science was the path I wanted to take. Since entering college, I have not once regretted my decision. I hope to thrive in this field and carry out the dreams I have had since I was young. Outside of the academic world, I have multiple hobbies, but my favorite is definitely figure skating. Although I started the sport at the age of twelve, much later than the typical athlete, my instant love for the discipline pushed me and my dedication to another level. The sport has provided me with many opportunities and through the years, I have won awards and titles such as Ice Dancer of the Year, Solo Dance Champion, and U.S. Figure Skating Gold Medalist in Dance. After a year of college, I have finally found the perfect balance between school and having social life. I used to struggle with prioritizing each one, but with the help of my favorite people, I have learned to thrive in any situation I am put in.
