Bio

As a dedicated and passionate criminal justice student who aspires to serve as a federal agent in the FBI, specializing in domestic violence and human trafficking, inspired by a desire to give a voice to the unheard, I am committed to bringing justice to vulnerable communities and advocating for those who cannot advocate for themselves. Raised by a single mother, I have faced and overcome financial challenges, which have only fueled my drive to succeed and make a meaningful impact. My academic journey has pushed me outside my comfort zone, helping me grow into a confident, resilient, and purpose-driven individual. I have enriched my experience through volunteer work as an athletic trainer, summer camp counselor, and youth teacher. These roles have strengthened my communication, leadership, and mentoring skills, which I plan to carry into my career in law enforcement. With a keen interest in criminal law, corrections, and the evolving strategies of modern policing, I have developed a strong academic foundation, including research on human trafficking causation and critical issues in corrections. I believe in rehabilitation, second chances, and creating systems that work to punish and restore. As I continue my studies, I will focus on finding scholarship opportunities to alleviate financial pressure and stay on track toward my mission of serving justice with compassion, strength, and integrity.

From a young age, I was shaped by the example of resilience, dedication, and service. When I was 11 years old, I watched my mother serve in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant Commander while simultaneously pursuing her Master's Degree and raising three children, one of whom was a newborn. Her ability to manage so much with unwavering strength and compassion left a deep imprint on me. It is that example that has driven me through my academic journey and continues to fuel my commitment to serving others. Academically, I've worked hard to push beyond the limits of my comfort zone. College has challenged me intellectually and helped me grow as a leader, thinker, and advocate. I've maintained strong grades while balancing extracurricular involvement, volunteer work, and part-time responsibilities. My coursework in criminal justice has deepened my understanding of the systemic issues that disproportionately affect vulnerable populations, and I've taken every opportunity to explore those issues further through research and field experience. My ultimate career goal is to become an FBI agent specializing in domestic violence and human trafficking cases. This calling stems from a deep desire to give a voice to those who suffer in silence because I was once in their shoes. Victims of these crimes are frequently overlooked or misunderstood, and I want to be a force for justice and healing. I'm especially passionate about advocating for women and children, and working in federal law enforcement will allow me to make a direct, lasting impact on their lives. Community involvement has always been a part of who I am. I've served as a summer camp teacher, athletic trainer, and counselor, which allowed me to mentor and support youth during critical developmental moments. Volunteering has shown me the power of simply being present for others, and it's a principle I carry with me in all that I do. I strive to uplift those around me through education, safety, or simply listening. As a student from a single-parent household, financial challenges have never been far from my mind. My mother has worked tirelessly to provide for us, but college expenses have significantly burdened our family. Receiving this scholarship would ease that pressure and allow me to focus more fully on my studies and community service. It would also bring me one step closer to achieving a career that fulfills me and contributes meaningfully to society. What sets me apart is not just my dedication, but my lived experience. I have seen what it means to fight for a better future with limited resources and endless determination. I don't take opportunities for granted and am fiercely committed to using my education and talents to serve others. This scholarship would not just support me, it would support every person I aim to help through my future work in criminal justice.

When I was 11 years old, I watched my mother serve in the United States Navy as Lieutenant Commander while earning her Master's Degree from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, just after giving birth to my baby brother. Even with all that on her shoulders, she was always present, listening, and showing up for me. That image of quiet strength shaped who I am and who I strive to become. My mother has been the most impactful person in my life, not just because of what she's done for our family, but because of the values she's instilled in me: resilience, empathy, and purpose. Growing up with a single mother meant learning early on how to be resourceful and emotionally strong. I saw firsthand how to stretch a dollar, stay grounded during times of uncertainty, and support those around me when life felt overwhelming. These experiences didn't just influence my childhood; they built habits and principles that have carried over into every part of who I am today. I've learned to stay calm under pressure, think critically, and lead with compassion. These qualities are vital in law enforcement, especially in the areas I'm passionate about: domestic violence and human trafficking. I believe survivors deserve to be heard, protected, and supported by professionals who truly understand the trauma they've experienced. That motivates me to pursue a career in the FBI, specifically the domestic violence or victim services unit. My dream is to give a voice to those who have been silenced and to offer safety and justice to the most vulnerable. Volunteering as a summer camp counselor, athletic trainer, and teacher taught me how to listen deeply, de-escalate tension, and advocate for vulnerable skills that directly apply to community policing and federal investigations. I also believe in accountability, not just for others, but for myself. I hold myself to a high standard, both in my academics and in my personal growth. I'm proud of the research I've done on human trafficking and corrections, and I plan to use my education to bring both awareness and solutions to the issues that often go unnoticed in our society. My mother taught me that strength doesn't always look like power; it often looks like persistence, patience, and doing what's right even when no one is watching. I plan to make that kind of impact in the community: standing up for the voiceless, serving with integrity, and always showing up, just like she did.
