I read books multiple times a week.
My name is Keira Peters, and I am a rising junior at The George Washington University’s Elliott School of International Affairs. I am the daughter of Ugandan immigrants and the oldest of three siblings. My experiences growing up in an immigrant family and visiting Uganda have shaped my passion for international development and expanding access to opportunities worldwide. I am pursuing a Bachelor of Science in International Affairs and Strategic Management & Public Policy with a concentration in International Development. I am passionate about international development because I believe communities around the world should have access to the resources, education, and economic opportunities needed to create sustainable futures. Outside of academics, I enjoy childcare, fashion, foreign languages, and history. Through my leadership experiences, policy internships, and involvement on campus, I have developed a deeper understanding of how institutions and communities work together to address global challenges. After graduation, I hope to work in international development through organizations such as nonprofits, development banks, or global institutions like the World Bank or IMF. My long-term goal is to contribute to efforts that make education more accessible, strengthen local communities, and empower individuals to create better opportunities for themselves and future generations.
