I’m kehinde Ejio, currently in the navy reserves. I am a trained hospital corpsman and field medical training service technician. I chose nursing because of my passion for saving lives and helping people. I plan to get my license with the current Bachelors in nursing program I’m enrolled in so that I’m future I can open up a nursing home to help the older generation. I cope with mental illness by spending time with my loved ones. I avoid being alone, stay away from negative thoughts or habits that could lead me or my mental health in a wrong direction. My goal is to be a surgical nurse, luckily for me I got accepted into California state university Northridge for an accelerated Bachelors degree in nursing program and this is taking me closer to my goal. It’s one of the reasons I’m applying for this scholarship as my tuition is $47,000 and I’m unable to afford all that cost by myself. It would be a great privilege to win this scholarship and further harness my educational strength, to make my journey smoother.

I am a spirit person so I believe in meditation and music. I relax by listening to soul and quiet music. Relaxation for me is a thing of the mind, with this I try my best to be comfortable mentally. Writing takes my mind off things too as well so I have a journal where I write when I’m worried, listen to music while putting the words down and then praying to God to ease my affairs and bring peace to my heart.
