Hello, my name is Krystin, and I graduated from the University of Delaware as a Medical Diagnostic (Pre-PA) major in 2024. Since graduating, I have taken a gap year in order to study/take the GRE, gain experience working with patients as a PT aide, and shadow a Physician Assistant to get a better understanding of the PA career through their eyes. In my free time, I enjoy listening to music, reading, learning new recipes, and watching my favorite television shows.

Ms. Susy’s Disney Character Scholarship
Growing up everyone had a favorite character from either a tv show or movie. These characters would help us laugh if we wanted to cry or needed a break from the crazy thing with call life. But for most people, these characters are their favorite because they see themselves within the characters. Our favorite characters help inspire us to chase our dreams and never give up when life is getting stressful. A great movie franchise that inspires people to chase their dreams from an early age would be “Disney” movies. Disney has a way of making us laugh until our sides hurt, singing along with the characters, and sometimes they make us cry but when we know it will be alright at the end which is probably why most people find their favorite characters from these movies. My favorite character is “Tiana” from the film “The Princess and The Frog” which happens to be my favorite Disney film of all time. Everything in the film is beautiful to me, from the scenery to the music to the characters themselves everything is amazing to me. Tiana is my favorite character because she is extremely hardworking towards her dream and even though she hits a couple of rough patches down the road she keeps her head held high and continues to move forward. She inspires me to never give up on my dreams even though they seem so far away which is extremely encouraging now that I’m in college and I hope to become a Physician Assistant in the future but there are times when I’m drowning in coursework while filling my head with negative thoughts of not being successful and during those times I just remove myself for a while playing some songs from “The Princess and The Frog'' album which helps me build back my courage to keep going. Another huge reason for Tiana being my favorite character is because she was the first Black princess, I saw at the age of nine years old and still to this day I get a sense of comfort knowing I can see myself within Tiana. At the end of the day, we all have a favorite character who unknowingly supplies us comfort or encouragement throughout life while we look to find happiness and find out who we truly are.
