I am currently attending a community college where I am finishing my associates degree. I was a dual enrollment student during my 11th and 12th grade year of high school so I only have about 1 year to go until I finish! I am planning on transferring to a local university in the city of Tampa to pursue my undergraduate degree So that I can then go onto medical school and get my Doctorate as a physical therapist. I absolutely love the beach and would love to travel the world when I’m older. One day, I plan to have a family of educated children who I will help guide into leading a better world. I want to make my parents proud!!

I have overcome diversity in a numerous amount of ways, but my most important being my LGBTQ background.Growing up around my family with many of my aunts being gay, hasn’t always been easy. Bringing friends to my home and having them meet them was also very confusing. Not only is my family LGBTQ friendly, but we are also Hispanic. Growing up with opportunities taken from me due to my family heritage has always been rough. But I have been vigilant and prevalent within my community and I think I have helped other realize that being Hispanic is not a bad thing.
With family members being on the LGBTQ spectrum, I too fell into that category. I realized that a young age that I was into the same sex, and thus began my mental and community struggle with the world. I didn’t know how I fit in, or who I could trust with my personal secret but I knew it wasn’t going to be easy.
As I entered high school, I got an opportunity to go to an arts school that allowed students to be openly gay, and express their strike colors. Attending this school really helped my personality flower and learn to not be scared. I ended up also getting lots of opportunities within the school to showcase my culture as well. The school offered a multitude of clubs and classes and some that specialized in the art of Latin ballroom dancing.
I fell in love with the show world, and pushed myself into the dances of my culture. I would perform on stage and wasn’t afraid of the hips that my ancestors gave me. My parents and family around me was very proud of what I had become and all that I could do.
With everything that I learned from this school, I help mentor a good friend of mine who is on the LGBTQ spectrum but it unable to come out due to the possibility of being shunned by her parents. This world is cruel when it comes to minority’s, but it is slowly making progress that I hope to contribute to by attending pride parades and being open about my sexuality and culture.

This is me crossing a log on a river in Georgia!!! My family and I went on a trip to Georgia in the winter to celebrate my sisters birthday. One of the things we stopped to marvel at was this clearing of trees where you could see the rushing water and the build up of tree trunks. This is a picture of me daring to cross one of the trunks that was afloat in the water.
