Bio

My name is Kaylin Choi, and I am a nursing student at the University of Texas at Austin with a lifelong passion for healthcare, leadership, and global service. My journey began in high school, where I took advanced sciences and served as a medical translator for my grandparents. This foundation fueled a deep commitment to leadership; I served as National Honor Society President, Student Council Vice President, HOSA Secretary, and Founder of my school's Doctors Without Borders Club. Today, I continue this active involvement at UT Austin as a member of the Austin Texas Nursing Students' Association and the Student Community of Asian Nurses. Driven by a love for connecting with people and taking on new challenges—whether in the classroom or training for the Austin Half Marathon—I am dedicated to making a lasting impact. My background includes years of local service, from editing a weekly church youth newsletter as Editor-in-Chief to tutoring refugee and immigrant children. At my church, I also serve as a hospitality leader, welcoming new students and fostering community. Globally, I have spent the last seven years independently financing the sponsorship of four families in Kenya, El Salvador, and Paraguay through Compassion International. My ultimate career goal is to become a Nurse Practitioner, combining advanced clinical expertise with humanitarian outreach to provide direct, hands-on medical relief to underserved communities worldwide.
