Bio

I am an adult learner returning to school after building a career in marketing over the past ten years. Throughout my professional journey, I have developed strong skills in communication, leadership, organization, and creative problem-solving while balancing work, personal growth, and family responsibilities. My path to higher education has not been traditional, and my experience in recovery has given me a deeper sense of resilience, discipline, and purpose. Returning to school is an important step in continuing to grow both personally and professionally. After graduation, I plan to continue my career in marketing while expanding my opportunities for long-term stability and advancement. I hope to use my experiences to show others that growth is always possible and that it is never too late to invest in yourself and your future.

The day I realized I finally felt peace instead of survival mode was the moment I understood what recovery truly meant to me. Recovery did not just change my relationship with alcohol; it changed the way I viewed myself, my future, and the life I believed I was capable of building. For me, recovery means showing up honestly every day, even when life feels overwhelming. It means learning how to handle stress, fear, and uncertainty without escaping from them. Through working a 12-step program, I have learned the importance of accountability, self-reflection, and taking responsibility for my past behaviors. That process has helped me grow into a more honest, dependable, and compassionate person, both personally and professionally. Recovery has taught me that real growth comes from being willing to face uncomfortable truths and continue moving forward anyway. Recovery has also given me the confidence to pursue goals I once believed were out of reach. Returning to school as an adult learner while continuing my career in marketing is something I never would have imagined during the hardest periods of my life. Today, I am proud of the discipline and determination I have developed through both recovery and higher education. Most importantly, recovery means hope. It means understanding that difficult chapters do not define a person forever. My experiences have shaped me into someone who values resilience, compassion, and perseverance, and I plan to carry those lessons with me throughout my education, career, and personal life.
