Hello from California! My name is Kaylee Jo and I am graduating high school in June 2023. I am Korean-American and proud to represent my community in my future endeavors! As a foster child, I lack the necessary financial resources and support that will help fund my post-graduation plans. All scholarship and grant money will be contributed to my education and basic living expenses. While I was still under the care of my biological parents, I struggled to speak up for my mental health struggles. I was raised in an extremely toxic household, witnessing and even first-hand experiencing physical, mental, and verbal abuse at the hands of the adults who were supposed to protect me the most — my parents. As a result, I have since been diagnosed with major depressive disorder, general anxiety disorder, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Even still, I watched as my parents became successful self-made entrepreneurs. While they refused to believe in my psychiatric diagnoses, they also refused to believe in my future. Help me in proving my parents wrong! I am 110% sure that I am more than capable of setting myself up for a successful future. I inherited my parents' knack for entrepreneurship and turned my hobby of crafting jewelry into a small business. Since the establishment of my small business, I have shipped my handcrafted jewelry to customers all over the United States. Continuing my education after high school will allow me to learn the necessary skills to further expand my business. I plan on majoring in Public Relations & Communication to help me achieve my goals!
