1 Corinthians 13:13 NIV says, “these three things remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love.” This refers to one’s love for the Lord, others, and themselves. This Bible verse has impacted the ways I lead others, challenge myself, and seek opportunities to learn more. It has also influenced my support of life. I value the importance of support and finding ways each baby, mother and family feels loved and safe. My recent admittance to Creighton University will provide the opportunity to continue my passion for sharing love by helping others and achieving my goal of creating a difference in people’s lives. I aspire to take advantage of a dual degree by pursuing a juris doctor (J.D.) and master’s in business administration (MBA). A J.D. will open doors to assist businesses and individuals in legal transactions and an MBA will build on my undergraduate degree in Business Administration. I want to be the leader that works with a business to assist in executing their business plans, ideas, and strategies. I will do this by providing counsel to how the leaders manage employees. I want to be a resource that businesses will utilize to instill ethical practices, corporate compassion, and compliance to legal regulations such as safety and fair labor.  I want to incorporate my love for HRM with my appreciation for the law to be an active part in creating an environment where employees love to work. Pursuing law school will provide opportunities to observe the relationships between human resources and employment law. In my pursuit, I want to further understand the legal systems that regulate how employees should be hired, evaluated, promoted, and fired. Having this understanding will expand my ability to take part in encouraging and cultivating a culture where employees love to work. Beginning my legal academic career this fall will begin my journey to ensure that every employee, especially mothers, are legally protected and will have equal opportunity to support a child. My hope is that this career will be not only be built off my Christian values and beliefs, but will be a catalyst for all mothers to feel loved and supported. This love and support will grow into a movement that will value pro-life decisions and the recognition that all babies deserve a life. Love has been the foundation for my academic aspirations, leadership roles, and community involvement. I intend to build my career on the love for employees to encourage strong family values.

Imagine a hot day at a family camp where you’re enjoying an ice cold, sweet and tangy glass of lemonade that you’ve just purchased from a girl with the biggest, brightest smile. Your enjoyment of the beverage does little to compare to the impact you’ve had on the young girl by simply spending one dollar. I was that little girl and the weekend at Lake Geneva Bible Camp sparked my dream to always be a reason for other’s love and joy in what they do. At the end of the weekend, I was called on stage in front of the congregation of 600 people where it was announced that my younger sister and I had raised $350 that we chose to donate to Boys and Girls Missionary Challenge (BGMC). While being blinded by the stage lights, I realized that it wasn’t the accolades of our achievements from the crowd that brought me joy. It was experiencing the strong love I had for my sister’s happiness in that moment and knowing I had been a part of it. The desire to continue exemplifying love led me to discover an interest in management and leadership through my undergraduate studies. My involvement in the University of Kansas (KU) Business Leadership Program developed an admiration for the power of love in corporate settings as a result of positive leadership. My desire to lead with impact led to my role as co-president of KU Human Resources Management (HRM) Club. While recognizing that I love to lead others, I realized that my genuine passion is not to lead a business. Having this understanding will expand my ability to take part in encouraging and cultivating a culture where employees love to work. I respect the core value of Creighton University to “grow as an individual” and “give back as an equal.” This value exemplifies the professional mindset I want to incorporate in business and legal settings. I want to immerse myself in a culture where individuals are challenged and encouraged to improve. With this, I want opportunities where my professional growth will be used to equally impact fellow law and business professionals. Admission to Heider College of Business and the School of Law will influence the ways I continue to love and lead as a business attorney through academic enrichment and involvement in the Business Law Society and Christian Legal Society. Love has been the foundation for my academic aspirations, leadership roles, and community involvement. I have demonstrated my devotion to spread love through my relationships with professors and peers, involvement to serve families in church, and commitment to prioritizing academic and professional achievement. This devotion will influence and continue to lead my legal education while creating a lasting impact at Creighton University.
