Hi, my name is Kayla, and I am a previous Community College student transferring to North Carolina Central University in Fall 2026. I'm a pre-nursing student with a passion for improving health outcomes in underserved communities. On the weekends, I work part-time as a front desk receptionist at a nursing home and rehabilitation center. My experiences working in customer service and in a nursing home have shown me the importance of empathy, patience, and treating every person with dignity. These experiences have inspired me to pursue nursing and eventually establish a nonprofit focused on improving health education and nutrition resources in underserved communities. Outside of school, I'm committed to personal growth, financial literacy, and entrepreneurship. I'm working toward building multiple streams of income while pursuing my education so I can create lasting opportunities for myself and positively impact others. Every scholarship brings me one step closer to achieving these goals and contributing to the world through healthcare.
