I am an ambitious, creative, and passionate person. I love to learn and I believe that there is always a way to whatever peak I seek. As a college student from a low-income, immigrant, and single-parent household I know what it means to work and defy expectations. I have had my fair share of challenges but with a positive attitude and hobbies that keep me grounded, it is only a matter of when not if.
I am a junior Finance and English double major with a minor in Education.

I was born in Queens, New York, but my father is from Trinidad, and my mother is Haitian. By emigrating to the United States, they were able to meet and build different lives in America. I study Finance, English, and Education at the University of Notre Dame. I’ve been a high-achieving student my whole academic life. I intend to maintain those high grades and further develop my leadership skills and moral force of character during the length of my undergraduate studies. Another ambitious goal would be to qualify for the Rhodes Scholarship, which would afford me the opportunity to attend Oxford University. I’m well aware of the gap in wealth across various socioeconomic groups. This is due to a variety of factors, but most importantly, a lack of financial education. The stigma is that investing is only for a certain type of person. A person who has been given many resources from the moment they were born. I believe that everyone should be privy to happiness, secured by financial freedom. I want to break boundaries by becoming one of the few black women on Wall Street and becoming a model for others in my community.
Dealing with racism and sexism, Even among peers who looked like me, very few people had a Caribbean background. I realized that it is okay to be different from everyone else. I came into this university as the only black female finance major. I am the only upperclassmen the incoming black girls have in this space. This does not scare me. It is with pride I can call myself the president of the Black Business Association at Notre Dame. My entire collegiate career has been difficult for me. Most times, I am the only Black face in my classes, and I have classmates who disregard my opinion and perspective. This does not discourage me from speaking up and doing the things that make me happy. Other women deserve to see a face like mine succeeding in finance. No one can take away my voice even if they diminish my platform. “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” my grandma tells me everytime I call her. My culture, my values, and my histories do not end with me. I carry a legacy of people who strove for excellence and realized that education is the only way out. I am their wildest dreams.
