I read books multiple times a week.
I am a nontraditional, first-generation college student pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Science with a concentration in Death Investigation at Arizona State University. As a mother of six, I balance rigorous academic demands with significant family responsibilities, an experience that has strengthened my discipline, resilience, and long-term focus. My interest in forensic science is rooted in a deep respect for truth, accountability, and service to others. I am particularly drawn to the biological and investigative aspects of the field and plan to pursue a career in crime scene investigation or medicolegal death investigation, where accuracy, integrity, and ethical responsibility are essential. Returning to higher education as an adult has required careful time management, perseverance, and unwavering commitment. What once felt unimaginable a decade ago is now my reality. I hope my journey demonstrates not only to my daughters, but also to others in similar circumstances, that returning to school and pursuing meaningful goals is possible regardless of life stage or obstacles. By forging this path, I am building a stronger future for my family while proving that determination and purpose can create opportunity.
