Kayla Parker was raised in Tallahassee, Florida, by two Florida A&M alumni parents. As a child, Kayla was quiet. She had a lover's heart and a jokester’s wit, but she preferred to share them only with her family. Kayla remained mostly silent until age 13. From then on, it was hard for Kayla to hide her light. In middle school, Kayla discovered a passion for creative writing and animation after watching a Behind the Scenes video of the making of Finding Nemo. After getting her Bachelors in Journalism, she moved to Los Angeles to pursue her dream. Her first job was an internship at Nickelodeon Animation Studio, which led to a six-year career with the company. In 2021, Kayla faced a difficult decision. She moved back to Tallahassee after learning her family member was dealing with severe health issues. Becoming a caretaker was a heavy responsibility for a 25 year old, but she found solace in her work. By the grace of God, her career continued to thrive. Kayla has many accomplishments she’s proud of, but one of her greatest is watching her mother make tremendous strides in her health. In the last few years, Kayla noticed a shift in film. She began to see less and less tween and teen-focused movies, a genre she’s always loved. Not on her watch! Kayla is passionate about reviving the golden era of teen and tween films. In her spare time, she likes to roller skate, play and watch sports, and cook.
