My name is Kavion Neely, and I am a rising junior majoring in environmental science. My career goals include becoming an environmental field consultant or hydrologist to protect natural resources and promote healthier communities. I'm passionate about increasing recycling in overlooked areas where Black and minority communities frequently lack the same environmental facilities and opportunities as others. Later, I plan to pursue my real estate license to promote eco-friendly housing and solar-powered homes, encouraging sustainable living on a broader scale. Eventually, I aim to earn a master's in policy-making to influence environmental legislation across the U.S. and beyond, handling global issues like pollution, sustainability, and climate justice. Being Black means resilience, representation, and responsibility. It means showing up for those legacies who came before me while lifting others. I chose to attend an HBCU because I wanted to be part of a community that celebrates our culture, supports our ambitions, and prepares us to be leaders. I liked that my school's motto is "Start Here, Go Anywhere." Through my community service experience, including feeding people without homes, campus cleanups, and volunteering with my university's marching band, I know the importance of using my voice and time for a positive impact. Science isn't just a subject; it's a tool for justice and change. I'm committed to building a future where environmental equity is the standard, not the exception!

As an upcoming junior at Alabama A&M University, I am deeply involved in the marching band. Charity holds a special place in my heart, just as giving back to the community. Giving back to the community is more than just a commitment. It is a way to give thanks for the opportunities I am eager to give while uplifting those who may not have the same advantages. Seeing the happiness and positivity impact of charitable work fuels my passion for bringing a positive change. My plans as an environmental science major, aspiring to master policymaking, are connected with my commitment to charity. I want to use what I learn in school to help take care of the Earth and make sure everyone has a good place to live, not just here, but everywhere. Helping give back could involve organizing community clean-ups, promoting recycling initiatives, or working with local organizations to implement environmental education programs. Finally, using charity is important to me because it shows the many different levels of empathy and compassion. It's not always about giving back for me, but more so about utilizing my blessings and skills to create a better world for everyone, every day.
