Bio

Hi, I'm Katrina! I hope to pursue a degree in economics and do research on the effects of economics on minority languages in an effort to find ways to preserve and revive such important aspects of cultural identity. I also enjoy composing music and playing the piano! I would say my strengths are that I am intrinsically motivated to achieve and that I enjoy connecting with others and learning new things!

Trips to the movie theater were always some of the most exciting experiences as a kid. However, it was not the movies themselves that I found myself excited about. It was the trailers that came beforehand. There was something about the combination of dramatic music blasting through strategically-placed speakers and the action on screen that captivated every bit of attention I had to offer. It was this type of music that inspired me to begin composing. There was only so much that the footage could convey without music; the music had the final say in how exactly the audience would be made to feel. I wrote "Venture" as a way to commemorate those movie-theater experiences and the journey-- or "venture"-- that they took me on.
