I'm Katlyn Darling, a proud U.S. veteran, a committed wife, and a loving mother to my toddler son, with another baby on the way! I am currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree at Hawaii Pacific University (HPU), while my husband serves at Wheeler Army Airfield, Oahu. Post-Army service, my passion drives me to contribute positively to my community. As a third-year student at HPU's Nursing program, I am projected to graduate by December 2024. I am also a distinguished alumna of the University of Chicago Warrior Scholar Program, and I am currently enrolled in MIT's No Code AI and Machine Learning: Building Data Science Solutions (a summer continuing education program). Despite being a service-connected disabled veteran, I stand tall against challenges. I combine my entrepreneurial spirit with my love for service, leading me to start a venture dedicated to training Labrador Retrievers as PTSD dogs, assisting veterans and individuals grappling with PTSD. My aspirations extend to conducting transformative research at HPU. My focus is to refine the nursing process, better patient outcomes, and address the nursing shortage through HPU SRC. My interest is piqued by the revolutionary role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in healthcare. This includes automating electronic health records (EHRs), predictive analysis for patient outcomes, and leveraging AI for prioritizing care and forecasting emergent situations. I envision myself earning a graduate degree in a healthcare-related field, amplifying my impact on healthcare.
