Bio

Growing up, I've always had a fondness for caring for others. For instance, when my aunt was diagnosed with Aplastic Anemia, I immediately offered to donate my bone marrow if I were a match. However, I was young and did not meet the qualifications to donate. So, it wasn't a surprise that I aimed to pursue a career in Healthcare. During my pursuit, I've encountered many obstacles. For one, I was required by my parents to assume a part-time job while earning my degree. This transition was hard for me, and as a result, my GPA had suffered the consequences. I did not let this discourage me from continuing my pursuits. I used this as an opportunity to make a me hardworking and well-rounded employee. As a result, I have earned multiple leadership positions and have trained many employees to be medical assistants. I am passionate in my work and enjoy being a teacher to others. I hope to continue these passions in my professional line of work in the future.

When I was a child, I spent the majority of my time under my grandparent's care. I never understood why I couldn't see my mother most days, until the age of young adulthood. She gave birth to me when she was 17 years old, a hard reality for any teenager. However, she remained ambitious and worked hard to provide the life she's given me today. Despite being in my grandparent's care, my mom provided my financials. She did this by working nights as a bartender while attending college. This is a quality I didn't know I'd learn to appreciate until today. After earning her degree, she was able to land a successful job in the home mortgage business. Because of her, I was able to attend a public university and live a comfortable life. Her experiences inspired me to be independent and hardworking to achieve all my goals. Growing up, I've always been fond of caring for others. Naturally, I decided on a pathway toward a healthcare career. Originally, I was interested in becoming an Anesthesiologist. However, as I pursued my education in college, I realized that the pathway wasn't suitable for me and my future family goals. Because I did not have the experience growing up in a traditional household with two parents and siblings, I wanted to have this experience for myself and my future children. While exploring different career choices, I concluded that nursing would be the choice for me. I became fond of nursing from my boyfriend, who is currently a NICU nurse. His passion for his field was very eye-opening, and I decided to delve into the career myself. As a nurse, I want to spread awareness in the field. Nurses are undergoing a continuous shortage, and without nurses, it would be difficult for much of medicine to function. Without medicine, much of our population would not be getting the adequate healthcare needed to, potentially, survive. With a high patient-to-nurse ratio, a lot of nurses are found to be burnt out and lack the quality of care to serve patients. I want to help make a difference in the nursing community. To start, I would like to create an advocacy for continuous learning at the hospital where I will work. With this, I hope to reduce the turnover rate at the hospital and bring security to nurses who are feeling burnt out. A group for support can be the start of a big difference. If I find success, I would like to spread the word through friends and family who are in the same profession to attempt the same advocacy. If this works, I would love to try and spread the word through social media and hopefully get some traction. Without my mother, I would not be able to have the confidence to produce these ideas. I am proud to have my single-parent mother who made plenty of sacrifices for me.
