Hello there! My name is Katherine Mason, but I go by Katie. I am a high school senior from Clayton, North Carolina! In the fall, I plan to attend North Carolina State University as an Honors student majoring in statistics. After completing my undergraduate degree, I plan to obtain a master's degree in biostatistics. I am applying for scholarships with the hope that I can lessen the financial burden of college and be able to afford obtaining my master's degree. I spend most of my free time dancing and baking. I am an 18-year-old entrepreneur who owns and operates a cupcakeery called Katie's Kakes. I bake cupcakes, cookies, cakes, and more! I regularly sell cupcakes at a local business and always donate a portion of the proceeds to the Alzheimer's Association. I love to dance and am a member of two dance teams: my high school dance team, where I am a two-year captain, and my competitive team where I am an elite competitive dancer. I also enjoy painting, reading, volunteering, and cooking! Over the last three years, I have created and donated a series of acrylic canvas paintings to WakeMed Pediatric Cardiology that are now displayed in various patient rooms.
