I learned my Great, Great, Great, grandmother was born in 1888, in Forsyth Georgia. I learned this by talking to my Great aunt who turned 90 this year. I look at my family, my community, and the world and wonder how many families like mine have never received any form of counseling? What are the generational impacts of the lack of emotional support for generations? How much trauma and maladaptive behaviors were passed down due to a lack of support? After 137 years, I will become the first in my family to earn a Master's degree. With my master's degree in clinical mental health, I will use it to provide family and community counseling. I see the impacts the lack of counseling has had on my family, I would like to see the benefits counseling can have on the world for posterity.
